Login Queues in Overwatch 2 throttle the influx of players that can enter the game servers during high player traffic. Read on to learn more about the average wait times for these queues and what you can do to avoid losing your current position in queues.

Depending on how far you are in the queue, getting into the game will take you around 15 to 30 minutes. You can expect that queue times will be much shorter in the coming days as Blizzard has been making steady progress on resolving server issues and stability and its response to DDoS attacks.

As of October 7, 2022, Blizzard has reported that they will be making changes to the Match Making System to help shorten the wait time for players. There is no exact date for when these changes will be made, but players may expect to see some in future updates!

There is currently an issue regarding the queue for the account merge in Overwatch 2, where several players found themselves placed back in the queue after they were notified that it was ready to be merged.

Avoid Long Queue Times by Changing Regions

Reduce the time you waste queueing to get into the game by changing your region. This might cause some lag if you choose a region far away from your location, but with this, you'll be able to stay away from congested servers and play the game straight away.

To change your region, click on the globe icon next to the game version on your battle.net launcher.

Once inside the game, you want to avoid restarting your game as much as possible. Otherwise, you'll be back to waiting in the queue. Get as many matches as you can while you're in the game!

0 Players Ahead of You Error

While waiting in a queue, you might encounter an error where the game shows your position as 0. Remain calm since this is only a visual bug caused by too many players entering the game.

Resolve this issue by waiting until the game places you back in your proper queue position. Avoid restarting the game, as this will only send you to the back of the line.

Since you'll probably be doing something else while waiting in the queue, being AFK for too long once you get in the game will get you kicked out of the game, forcing you to queue again.

Try to avoid this by simply being patient until you can get in the game once you're close to getting in.
