Criteria Explanation
Map-specific Potential One of the primary factors we considered was the team's capability and strength in Push maps. We formulated this team around Heroes with abilities that work well around flanking routes, choke points, and other common characteristics of Push maps.
Team Synergy Another major factor we considered when creating this team composition is how well each Hero synergizes with their allies. We mainly chose Heroes that cover up their allies' weaknesses and have powerful ability combos.
Mobility Reaching and securing the Robot first is crucial in Push, which is why we also heavily prioritized mobility in our team composition.

These four factors were considered in the context of Competitive 5v5 Play.

Team Explanation

In general, Push maps reward proactive and high-mobility Heroes more than others due to the map selection's abundance of flanking routes and the mode's constantly moving barricades.

Orisa is an excellent tank in Push due to her well-rounded kit and high survivability, allowing her to act as a defensive powerhouse and follow along with her diving teammates when needed using Fortify and Javelin Spin.

Genji and Sojourn form a great pair of Damage Heroes for Push maps, as the former can efficiently flank the enemy team's backline while the latter can stay closer to their team as their frontline Damage Hero. Both of their ultimates also excel at dispatching clumped-up enemy teams, with Genji dancing from foe to foe with Dragonblade and Sojourn piercing multiple enemies with Overclock.

Lúcio and Moira's high mobility make them excel at quickly reaching the objective and their teammates, and they both offer a substantial amount of utility for their team.

Alternatives (Situational Picks)

Tank Damage Support
Overwatch 2 - Sigma Overwatch 2 - Wrecking Ball Overwatch 2 - Zarya
Overwatch 2 - Ashe Overwatch 2 - Sombra Overwatch 2 - Tracer
Overwatch 2 - Ana Overwatch 2 - Zenyatta

Alternative Tanks

  • Sigma: Like Orisa, Sigma has a solid, well-rounded kit for Push with his mobile Experimental Barrier and ability to disrupt foes with Accretion. Gravitic Flux is also powerful when used in narrow streets and cramped areas.
  • Wrecking Ball: Wrecking Ball's incredible mobility with Roll and Grappling Hook makes him another solid choice for Push maps. Minefield also excels at area denial, making it difficult for enemies to push back against your barricade.
  • Zarya: Zarya's Barriers are great for keeping her and her mobile teammates alive while turning back the absorbed damage against her foes. Graviton Surge is also devastating against clumped-up teams in choke points and behind barricades.

Alternative Damage

  • Ashe: Ashe can be an alternative frontline to Sojourn, having strong hitscan with The Viper and area-of-effect burst with Dynamite. B.O.B can also help contest objectives while acting as a source of added damage and crowd control.
  • Sombra and Tracer: Both Sombra and Tracer can replace Genji's flanking role due to their excellent mobility. Tracer offers more burst damage with her Pulse Pistols and Pulse Bomb, while Sombra provides more utility with Hack and EMP.

Alternative Supports

  • Ana: The high sightlines and straight roads of Push maps allow Ana to safely and efficiently support her team from afar. Her Biotic Grenade is also particularly effective due to the narrow areas within Push maps.
  • Zenyatta: Zenyatta has an easier time healing mobile targets compared to other Support Heroes due to his unique Orb of Harmony. His Orbs of Destruction are also great for laying down suppressive fire along narrow paths, potentially taking out careless foes with a few headshots.

Push Map Mechanics and Features

Control and Push the Barricade

Overwatch 2 - Control and Push the Barricade
Push maps in Overwatch 2 feature two barricades, one for each team, and the TS-1 Robot in the center of the map, which two teams fight for control over. Once a team captures TS-1, the robot will start pushing that team's barricade towards their enemy team's base.

Push games are won by pushing your team's barricade all the way to the enemy team's base or by shoving it the farthest once the map's timer runs out.

Timer and Point Rules

Every Push map plays under an 8 minute timer. The leading team is determined by the distance of their barricade from the center of the map.

Match Formats

Best of 1 in Competitive and Casual Play

Each Push game is played under a Best of 1 format, where the winner is immediately declared once a team has pushed their barricade to the end or after the timer runs out.

How to Play and Tips

Prioritize Team Kills

Instead of focusing on pushing the robot, teams should focus on killing the enemy heroes. Whenever players get a Team Kill, that should be the best time to push the robots forward.

Memorize the Map

Push Maps are the largest maps in the game, so it's best to take advantage of the shortcuts to the robot. Taking note of the Health Pack placements is also great. Typically any room will have a Health Pack.

Know Flanking Spots

As mentioned above, Push Maps are some of the largest, containing multiple pathways for Heroes to go through. Take advantage of the different routes to flank the enemy team.
