Route 66 Description

Route 66, one of the most famous roads in the United States, takes players on a rocky mountain road through a small abandoned town to deliver their payload into the hideout of the Deadlock Rebels. Route 66 features a deadly cliffside early into the map and a great mix of wide and narrow spaces, making it an exciting Escort map to play on.

Route 66 Tips and Strategies

Defend Gas Station with Doomfist

Doomfist is an excellent pick for defending Route 66's Gas Station. He can easily attack from and retreat toward the map's high ground with Seismic Slam and disrupt enemy positioning along the section's narrow road with his Rocket Punch and Meteor Strike.

Doomfist's Rocket Punch is also particularly effective in this section, as it has enough knockback to shove people off the map on the first bend toward the Gas Station.

Utilize Route 66's High Ground

Route 66 features plenty of flat rooftops with long sightlines, acting as excellent vantage points that attacking and defending teams should utilize. In particular, snipers like Ashe and area-based damage dealers like Zarya pair well with the vantage points offered by the high ground.

Prepare for the Cramped Final Area

In contrast to the rest of the map, Route 66's final section consists of a cramped and enclosed area better suited for medium-range firefights. We recommend switching over to Heroes like Junkrat, Reaper, and Hanzo, who excel at holding down and fighting in narrow pathways and choke points.
