Map-specific Potential | One of the primary factors we considered was the team's capability and strength in Hybrid maps. We formulated this team around Heroes that excel in playing around long sightlines, choke points, and pushing and defending crucial objectives. |
Team Synergy | Another major factor we considered when creating this team composition is how well each Hero synergizes with their allies. We mainly chose Heroes that cover up their allies' weaknesses and have powerful ability combos. |
Mobility | The ability to quickly reach and return to crucial objectives and team fights is vital in Hybrid, which is why we also heavily prioritized mobility in our team composition. |
These four factors were considered in the context of Competitive 5v5 Play.
In general, Hybrid maps offer a mix of long sightlines, high verticality, and ample choke points. Heroes that can use these characteristics to their strength and those with high mobility are more effective in this game mode.
Zarya is an excellent Tank for both attacking and defending in Hybrid. Her Projected and Particle Barriers work well for shielding her and her mobile teammates, protecting them from high-damage abilities. In addition, her Particle Cannon lets her turn back the damage absorbed by these barriers, allowing her to hit as hard as Damage Heroes toward crucial enemy targets and groups of foes. Lastly, Zarya's Graviton Surge disrupts clumped-up enemy teams with ease and sets them up for her teammate's other ultimate abilities.
Ashe is a potent frontline marksman in Hybrid. She has high burst damage with Viper headshots and Dynamite explosions, making her great at medium and long-range engagements. In addition, her Coach Gun lets her reach the abundance of vantage points in each Hybrid map, allowing her to shoot down her foes more effectively. Ashe's ultimate, B.O.B., helps her contest objectives while acting as a source of added damage and crowd control.
Genji excels in Hybrid maps due to his high evasion and mobility. Using Cyber-Agility and Swift Strike, he can quickly navigate flanking routes and reach crucial enemy targets. His Shuriken are also potent when used along choke points and long sightlines, having no damage falloff and dealing heavy critical damage. To round out his lethality, Dragonblade allows Genji to tear through attacking and defending teams with ease.
Lúcio offers incredible utility for both attacking and defending in Hybrid. His Speed Boost allows his team to reach and secure crucial objectives faster, while Healing Boost lets him passively heal his allies around control points and payloads. Lúcio's Soundwave is also great for pushing away foes and separating key enemy targets from their team. Lastly, Sound Barrier grants a massive temporary health boost to Lúcio and his allies, improving their survivability when pushing and defending.
Moira is a well-rounded Support that pairs well with Lúcio in Hybrid. Biotic Grasp allows her to heal multiple allies while letting her wear down enemy heroes from a distance. Biotic Orb is also incredibly versatile in Hybrid, being a potent healing tool and damage option around choke points and control points. For mobility and survivability, Moira has Fade, which allows her to safely retreat and maneuver around risky sightlines to reach teammates in need. Coalescence rounds out Moira's utility by being a barrier-piercing beam that simultaneously heals her allies and damages foes, working best for pushing toward objectives and defending against advancing foes.

Hybrid maps in Overwatch 2 combine the Assault and Escort game modes in a single map.
Matches start with two teams attacking or defending the map's capture point. If the attacking team manages to seize the capture point, the map transitions into an Escort mission where they need to deliver a payload toward its destination before time runs out.
Every Hybrid map plays under a 4 minute timer, with the time extending by 2 minutes if the point gets captured. Each team gains points whenever they seize a capture point or reach certain destinations with their respective payloads.
Each Hybrid game is played under a Best of 1 format, with teams switching between attacking and defending once per game.
