Some players are experiencing difficulty connecting to Overwatch 2 due to the BC-153 error which occurs when the servers are having random connection issues. Read on to check out all the solutions you can try to resolve the BC-153 error.
What Causes BC-153 Error Code
A Console Based Error
This is an error that primarily affects console players and has 2 primary causes: account restrictions and server maintenance scheduled in the Americas and Europe regions.
Server Maintenance in the Americas and Europe
When there is active server maintenance in the Americas or Europe and you are based in those regions or attempt to connect to those regions' servers it can cause this error code to occur.
Server Status: Are the Servers Online?
Account Restrictions
According to Blizzard's official support article, If Parental Settings are set to restrict access to Overwatch 2 or the chat/message functions, it can cause this error code to occur.

Check Your Internet Connection
Check your internet connection to see if your network connectivity is sufficient enough to play Overwatch 2. Also try restarting your router to see if that resolves the issue.
Restart the Game & Battle.Net
If you are encountering error codes while attempting to play Overwatch 2, It may be worth relaunching the game, as well as the battle.net launcher if restarting the router did not resolve the issue.
Change Battle.Net Region
Try changing your Battle.net region to another server. This may cause some lag if you choose a region far from your location, but also may help resolve the issue.
To change your region, click on the globe icon next to the game version on your battle.net launcher.
Check if Blizzard's Servers Are Down
Check if the server for Overwatch 2 is down with our Server Status Tracker, as that is often the cause of these error codes.
Server Status: Are the Servers Online?
Check Your Account (Parental) Settings
For Error Code BC-153, Blizzard have stated that Parental Settings restricting chat/messages, as well as access to Overwatch 2 can sometimes cause this error code. In your console's account/parental settings, make sure that chat/messages is set to on (you may need to get your parent's permission for this).
Keep an Eye on Blizzard's Announcements
