D.Va's character design has gone through some subtle changes as she returns for Overwatch 2. Such changes include switching her hairstyle to a slightly shorter ponytail and fringe. Her battle suit and mech, also get a redesign to go for bolder colors and accents. Her mech suit feels as thought it offers a bit more protection with the added armor plating.

You can activate both Fusion Cannons and Micro Missiles while using D.Va's Boost. Combine these abilities to pressure and quickly burst down key targets, such as Supports and immobile Damage Heroes.
Since Defense Matrix shoots down projectiles, timing it well can negate lethal abilities and ultimates. A list of significant ultimates and abilities that Defense Matrix blocks can be seen below:
Protect ultimates like Reaper's Death Blossom and Pharah's Barrage from being interrupted by covering them with Defense Matrix while they channel their abilities. Doing this shields them from crowd control abilities like Ana's Sleep Dart.
This also uniquely applies to Junkrat's Rip-Tire, as you can follow it with Boosters and Defense Matrix to protect it from being destroyed before it detonates.
Mei and Hanzo's ultimate abilities activate a short while after their respective voice lines end. Use this window of time to close the distance and get into position for Defense Matrix to block their skills.
For Hanzo's Dragonstrike in particular, D.Va has to use Defense Matrix against the initial arrow and not the twin dragons to negate the ultimate.
Because Tracer and Zarya's ultimates occur as soon as their voice lines begin, it is significantly more difficult to use Defense Matrix against them. Try to predrict and preemptively use Defense Matrix against these two Heroes when you feel that they are about to use their ultimates.
When Pharah uses her Barrage, counter it by flying towards her with D.Va's Boosters and using Defense Matrix. If you block Barrage close enough to Pharah, you can even make her damage herself due to the splash damage of her rockets.
Having expert flight control with D.Va's Boosters improves her mobility and evasiveness around the battlefield drastically. Complicated maneuvers, such as looping around foes, can increase her damage output while making her more difficult to hit.
You can easily pressure and push enemies away from crucial locations with D.Va by combining her Boosters and Quick Melee attack. These two abilities together can shove foes away from structures like Soldier: 76's Biotic Field and push them into environmental hazards.
While using Boost, you can activate Self-Destruct to launch D.Va's exploding mech toward different angles and directions. Catch your foes off guard by launching self-destructing mechs upward to maximize its explosion radius, or toward choke points to eliminate and deter advancing enemies.
You can also activate Self-Destruct right before D.Va ejects from her mech, leaving an explosive surprise for careless foes that linger around for too long.
D.Va is a hard hero to take on head-to-head so it's best to use flanking heroes such as Tracer, Reaper, and Soldier:76. Flanking is especially effective especially when D.Va uses her defense matrix.
Genji is also great for deflecting her missiles and guns.
When it comes to her Self-Destruct ultimate, it is very deadly in an open space. Go behind a wall to avoid any damage. Hiding behind Mei's Ice Wall or Reinhardt's shields is also an effective method.
Don't forget to kill the mech-less D.Va right before she summons a new mech.

When D.Va was younger she was always great at video games, placing her at the top of Korea's esports scene. Her reflexes and mastery of the Mecha Guardian V would pave the way for her to join MEKA.
With the threat of the Gwishin Omnics rising, the South Korean government looked to its professional gamers to pilot the MEKA suits. This team was tasked to defend the nation against the onmic threat, remaining on call when needed.
A few weeks after the Gwishin attack on Busan was Null Sector's attack on Paris, which was fended off by the newly re-established Overwatch. Seeing the team's heroics, D.Va pushed for the Korean military to ally with Overwatch, but to no avail.
After a sudden attack by Null Sector was repelled through the efforts of Team MEKA and the unexpected arrival of Overwatch, the military's stance shifted. D.Va was then assigned to the new Overwatch team.
