Error Code BN-043 is one of the many server connection issues players are experiencing in Overwatch 2. Read on to find out what you can do if you are experiencing this bug.

Error Code BN-043
Occurs During Server Maintenance
Error Code BN-043 appears to be a server connection related error code present in both the original Overwatch and Overwatch 2. Players have reported getting this error code when attempting to connect to the server while it was down for maintenance. It is also possible that this server connectivity issue can occur from local network connectivity issues, as well as server side problems.
All Known Bugs and Issues: How to Fix
Spike in Error Code BN-043 Occurrences Upon Maintenance Completion
Despite Blizzard's scheduled maintenance finishing on October 8, 2022, there have since been numerous reports of players getting Error Code BN-043 while the servers were live. Players who encounter this problem found themselves unable to log in or play the game. Considering the amount of players encountering this issue and the plethora of other bugs and server problems currently ongoing, it would appear that as with LC-208 and BC-153 (2 other commonly occurring server related error codes), this is a server connection error.
Server Status: Are the Servers Online?
How to Fix BN-043
Blizzard do not have Error Code BN-043 listed on their Blizzard's help forum, where they list causes and resolutions for various error codes. However, based on their advice for other similar error codes, below is a checklist which may help resolve the issue:

Check Your Internet Connection
Check your internet connection to see if your network connectivity is sufficient enough to play Overwatch 2. Also try restarting your router to see if that resolves the issue.
Restart the Game & Battle.Net
If you are encountering error codes while attempting to play Overwatch 2, It may be worth relaunching the game, as well as the battle.net launcher if restarting the router did not resolve the issue.
Change Battle.Net Region
Try changing your Battle.net region to another server. This may cause some lag if you choose a region far from your location, but also may help resolve the issue.
To change your region, click on the globe icon next to the game version on your battle.net launcher.
Check if Blizzard's Servers Are Down
Check if the server for Overwatch 2 is down with our Server Status Tracker, as that is often the cause of these error codes.
Server Status: Are the Servers Online?
Check Your Account (Parental) Settings
For Error Code BC-153, Blizzard have stated that Parental Settings restricting chat/messages, as well as access to Overwatch 2 can sometimes cause this error code. In your console's account/parental settings, make sure that chat/messages is set to on (you may need to get your parent's permission for this).
Keep an Eye on Blizzard's Announcements
Blizzard frequently tweet Overwatch 2 related announcements and updates on their PlayOverwatch channel. When there is a known bug that is affecting many players, they often address it here.
Other Server Issues
Additionally players have been encountering a host of other server related issues such as error code BC-153, LC-208, sudden disconnects, massive waiting times, as well as fluctuating numbers from down to zero, all the way up into the 10's of thousands and back again in the queue.
