Blizzard Announces Temporary Removal of Bastion and Torbjörn

In a tweet on October 10, Blizzard confirmed that Torbjörn and Bastion have been temporarily removed. This was due to bugs being exploited by players which gave then unintended, unfair advantages.

Configuration Artillery Ultimate Allowed for Unlimited Strikes Within the Time Limit

Bastion was affected by a bug which allowed it to launch far more artillery than was intended for its Configuration Artillery Ultimate. This was making it near impossible to escape for opponents, giving Bastion players an unfair advantage.

Temporarily Removed From All Game Modes

Due to the severity of the bug, Blizzard decided to remove Bastion from regular quick play matches as well as competitive matches while they resolve the issue.

Torbjörn Gameplay Preview Overwatch 2

Overload Ability Exploit Gave Torbjörn Unfair Levels of Speed and Durability

Torbjörn had a bug which allowed the use of his Overload ability twice in one charge. This gave him +100 HP and +30% speed for 10 seconds, instead of the intended 5 seconds. This was giving Torbjörn much more durability and speed than the developers intended, causing balancing issues.

Temporarily Removed From Competitive Mode

As this issue is not as game breaking as Bastion's Ultimate exploit, Torbjörn has only been temporarily removed from competitive mode until the issue is resolved.

According to a forum post by Blizzard, Torbjörn and Bastion are set to make a return to all game modes in the upcoming patch next week, October 25, 2022.
