The Ilios map takes place in Greece and provides players with a stunning seaside view while they battle for control inside the Lighthouse, the Ruins, and the Well. This map features several pitfalls and tight choke points, making it a great locale for intense Control matches.

Ilios Tips and Strategies

Push and Pull Foes into Pitfalls

Ilios' Well and Lighthouse feature large pitfalls around or inside their control points, acting as environmental hazards that teams should be wary of. Send careless foes into these pitfalls with pushing and pulling abilities like Lúcio's Soundwave and Roadhog's Chain Hook for easy eliminations.

Take Advantage of Narrow Pathways

Ilios' Well and Lighthouse are also filled with plenty of cramped buildings and narrow pathways, making them havens for tight, close-range firefights. Prioritize using Heroes that excel in close and medium range, like Zarya, Roadhog, and Cassidy, to make the most of these areas' terrain.

Utilize Ruins' Long Sightlines

Ilios' Ruins feature plenty of high vantage points and long sightlines that overlook the control points and large portions of the map. Take full advantage of the unique terrain by using sniping heroes like Widowmaker and Ashe to easily land lethal headshots from afar.

Alternative Tanks

• D.Va: D.Va is an excellent alternative Tank in Ilios, covering her team from projectiles with Defense Matrix and bursting down nearby foes with Fusion Cannons and Micro Missiles. Her Boosters are also significantly effective in Ilios, letting her easily shove foes into pitfalls and reach the map's flanking routes. Self Destruct is also a great ultimate for controlling space and dealing with foes around the control point.
• Roadhog: Roadhog is another strong, aggressive Tank in Ilios. His Chain Hook and Scrap Gun can quickly pick off key enemy targets, giving his team a numbers advantage in most engagements. He can also use Whole Hog and Chain Hook to push and pull enemies toward the map's numerous environmental hazards.
• Sigma: Sigma has a versatile defensive kit that works well in Ilios, with Kinetic Grasp absorbing enemy projectiles and Experimental Barrier granting mobile cover. Accretion and Gravitic Flux are also potent crowd-control abilities, especially when used on the map's control points and along its narrow corridors.
• Zarya: Zarya provides excellent damage mitigation with her Barriers, which also empowers her Particle Cannon and lets her take down groups of foes with ease. Graviton Surge is a potent disruptive ultimate when used in Ilios' control points and choke points, especially when combined with her allies' other ultimates.

Alternative Damage

• Ashe: Ashe is a great midrange marksman for Ilios. She shines most on Ilios' Ruins due to its high overlooks and long sightlines, but she still provides excellent burst damage with Viper headshots and Dynamite explosions on every part of the map. B.O.B. is also a great ultimate in Control, capable of contesting the point while providing additional damage and crowd control.
• Cassidy: With Ilios' suited for mid-range firefights, Cassidy is a great alternative Damage pick. His Peacekeeper and Magnetic Grenade excel at bursting down priority targets and protecting his team from flanking foes. The map's ample cover and vantage points also let Cassidy set up Deadeye more easily.
• Pharah: When fighting on Ilios' Lighthouse and Well, Pharah is a potent alternative pick if the enemy team lacks heavy hitscan and crowd control. These parts of the map have a high skybox, letting Pharah bombard her foes from multiple angles with Rocket Launcher and Barrage. Concussive Blast also lets her shove groups of enemies into the pitfalls around Lighthouse and Well's control points.
• Tracer: Tracer is an excellent alternative flanker on Ilios, capable of quickly traversing the map's horizontal layout and short gaps with Blink and bursting down foes up close with Pulse Pistols. Her Pulse Bomb is also extremely effective when used along the map's tight corridors and cramped control points, letting her explode multiple foes at once.
• Widowmaker: Widowmaker is an incredibly strong alternative pick on Ilios' Ruins. The map's vantage points and long sightlines allow her to easily land lethal headshots on crucial targets around the control point and even on foes leaving the spawn point.

• Baptiste: Baptiste offers potent area-based healing along Ilios' narrow terrain with Biotic Launcher and Regenerative Burst while fortifying his team's positioning with Immortality Field and Amplification Matrix. He can also access Ilios' vantage points with Exo Boost, providing him with better angles for healing allies and shooting foes.
• Brigitte: Brigitte provides excellent frontline support with Inspire and Rocket Flail while covering her team from flankers with Whip Shot and Barrier Shield. Her Rally is also an excellent tool for attacking and defending the map's control points, letting Brigitte move around faster while providing temporary health to her allies.
• Mercy: Mercy pairs well with Ilios' ample cover and high verticality, letting her become a solid alternative Support with Guardian Angel and Caduceus Staff. She is incredibly potent when paired with Heroes she can focus her healing and damage boosts toward, such as Pharah and Sojourn. Her Resurrect also has the potential to turn around team fights on the control point.
