This Overwatch 2 tier list shows the best Support Heroes to play in the current Competitive meta. Read on for a complete list of all Support Heroes rated from S-Tier to A-Tier!
List of Contents
Criteria | Explanation |
---|---|
Overall Utility | Our primary focus for this tier list is the overall utility that a Support Hero brings to a team of 5. Since every Support Hero can heal their teammates, we placed a bigger focus on how impactful and effective the rest of their abilities are. |
Survivability | We also considered each Support Hero's survivability and capability to get themselves out of harm's way. Staying alive as a Support Hero is vital as the healing and utility they provide keeps the rest of the team alive. |
Ease of Use | Heroes with simple yet effective playstyles can focus less on properly landing their shots and skills and more on contributing to their team and winning the game. Because of this, Support Heroes with straightforward game plans and easy-to-use abilities are rated higher in this tier list. |
These three factors were considered in the context of Competitive 5v5 Play.

These three Support Heroes are our picks for S-Tier as they strike a great balance between ease of use, survivability, and overall utility. Each of these Heroes are easy to pick up and play and also significantly contribute to the team in their own ways.
Hero | Abilities | Passives |
---|---|---|
Lúcio |
Soundwave
Crossfade Amp It Up Sound Barrier |
Role: Support
Wall Ride |
Provides Speed, Healing, and Temporary Health | ||
Compared to the other Supports, Lúcio has an on-demand Speed Boost that allows him and his team to quickly secure objectives and return to the fray faster when defeated. His passive Wall Ride further increases his mobility, allowing him to quickly reach injured teammates and speed away from dangerous situations. Couple these abilities with his easy-to-use Healing Boost, space-creating Sonic Amplifier, and strong Sound Barrier overheal, and Lúcio shows that he's a strong, well-rounded Support that deserves one of the top spots on our tier list. |
||
Mercy |
Guardian Angel
Resurrect Valkyrie |
Role: Support
Regeneration Angelic Descent |
Continuous Stream of Healing and Damage Boosts | ||
While she may not have high offensive capability, Mercy's single-target support potential and high survivability make her one of the top Support Heroes in the game. Her Caduceus Staff allows her to continuously deliver healing and damage boosts to her Damage teammates, while Guardian Angel provides her with incredible teammate-to-teammate mobility. Combine this with her tide-turning Resurrect and her ultimate Valkyrie that boosts all of her abilities, and it's not difficult to see why Mercy is a strong dedicated Support at the top of the tier list. |
||
Moira |
Biotic Orb
Fade Coalescence |
Role: Support
|
Great Mix of Offense, Healing, and Survivability | ||
Moira is a well-balanced Support that provides a great mix of damage and healing while also being able to easily keep herself alive, currently making her one of the best Supports to use in the game. Her Biotic Grasp and Biotic Orb are incredibly versatile for both offense and defense, making her great as a frontline Support. In addition, her Fade is an amazing survivability tool that allows her to maneuver towards teammates or escape danger while remaining invulnerable. With her kit being rounded out by her powerful barrier-piercing Coalescence, Moira proves herself as a top Support Hero fit for almost any team composition. |
Hero | Abilities | Passives |
---|---|---|
Ana |
Biotic Grenade
Sleep Dart Nano Boost |
Role: Support
|
Versatile Kit That Requires Great Positioning | ||
Ana is a solid Support Hero with a far-reaching Biotic Rifle that allows her to heal teammates and damage foes from afar. She also uses a unique Biotic Grenade that prevents enemies from healing, a Sleep Dart that can instantly nullify threats until they wake up, and a Nano Boost ultimate that allows her Damage teammates to push their offense even further. However, her powerful kit requires precise aim and proper decision-making to showcase its full potential, especially due to their long cooldowns. In addition, Ana lacks escape options aside from her Sleep Dart, making her extremely vulnerable if caught alone. |
||
Baptiste |
Regenerative Burst
Immortality Field Amplification Matrix |
Role: Support
Exo Boost |
Strong Utility with a High Skill Ceiling | ||
Baptiste is a Support Hero specializing in area-of-effect healing with his Biotic Launcher and Regenerative Burst. He also boasts his signature Immortality Field, which prevents him and his teammates from dying, and his ultimate Amplification Matrix, which doubles the healing and damage of his teammates' projectiles. Baptiste's versatile range of abilities is not without its weaknesses. Due to Biotic Launcher's projectile shots and Regenerative Burst's short range, he can have a hard time healing mobile and aerial Heroes like Tracer and Pharah. In addition, each of his abilities have long cooldowns and require proper positioning to shine, making him a difficult Support to play effectively. |
||
Brigitte |
Shield Bash
Repair Pack Whip Shot Rally |
Role: Support
Inspire |
Offense-Reliant Melee Support | ||
Brigitte is a melee-oriented Support that heals her allies by dealing damage with Inspire and using Repair Packs. She prefers getting up close and personal with her Rocket Flail and Barrier Shield, but she can knock away farther targets with her Whip Shot. In addition, her ultimate Rally provides her with extra movement speed and temporary health over time for her teammates, allowing her to continue her offense. Due to her focus on melee combat, Brigitte's primary weakness is dealing with ranged targets, amplified by the fact that she can't effectively heal her allies without damaging enemies. In addition, she has no escape tools outside of her Shield Bash, making it difficult for her to get out of dangerous situations. |
||
Zenyatta |
Orb of Discord
Orb of Harmony Transcendence |
Role: Support
Snap Kick |
Great Offensive Utility but Highly Vulnerable | ||
Zenyatta is a solid Support that can heal and aid allies from afar with his numerous orbs. Orb of Harmony is a versatile long-range healing tool that continuously restores health, while Orb of Discord amplifies the damage that key enemy targets take. In addition, his Orbs of Destruction can match the potential of Damage Heroes with its devastating hits. Zenyatta's ultimate Transcendence rounds out his kit by giving him a large area-of-effect heal for crucial situations. Zenyatta's primary weakness is his lack of survivability, as he has no self-heal or escape options to help him stay alive. In addition, his Orbs of Destruction can be difficult to use against mobile targets as they are projectiles and not hitscan shots. |
||
Kiriko |
Protection Suzu
Swift Step Kitsune Rush |
Role: Support
Wall Climb (Kiriko) |
Versatile Support with High Skill Ceiling | ||
Kiriko is versatile Support Hero, having great mobility with Swift Step and Wall Climb and offering plenty of utility for her team. Her Healing Ofuda provide ample healing at most ranges, and Protection Suzu is an incredible defensive tool that cleanses debuffs and turns her allies invulnerable for a short time. Kitsune Rush is also an excellent offensive ultimate, providing move speed, attack speed, and cooldown reduction to her team. She also provides respectable damage output with her Kunai, dealing massive damage on critical hits. While she offers plenty of utility for her team, Kiriko requires excellent timing and foresight as each of her abilities have long cooldowns, especially Protection Suzu. Her Kunai can also be difficult to use when fighting mobile targets as they are projectiles and not hitscan shots. |
