Match-Focused UI

Overwatch 2 - Match UI
Player levels and ranks will completely be removed from the UI in all game modes. Instead, the match UI will showcase match data like accuracy, how well a player uses an ability, and more.

Placement Matches

New players will have to start Competitive Mode as unranked and progress through the tiers.

Old players will have modified ranks

Returning players will have their ranks modified to fit the new system of Overwatch 2. They will not start out as unranked but will be placed on a tier that translates to their old game rank.

Game Reports

Overwatch 2 - Game Reports
Game Reports is a new feature of Overwatch 2 that lets players revisit past matches. There, players will be able to see all sorts of data on how they played.

Players will also be able to see replays of the match. Be warned, however, that replays will be deleted after each patch.

Top 500 Leaderboards

The Leaderboards will be available two weeks after the start of every season. It will be similar to the original game's Leaderboard function where players have to complete 25 games in Role Queue or 50 in Open Queue.

Skill Decay Solution

Players who have taken significant time off from playing Overwatch will be placed into lower-leveled games to ease them back.

The matchmaking level will also be quicker to change depending on the player's performance.

Rewards

The developers will stop rewarding the top 500 players with sprays and icons. Instead, the top 500 players of each season will have a commemorative title to put on the name card. These will only be given at the end of each season

Competitive Points

Players will be able to earn 15 competitive points per win and 5 for a draw. Exchanging 3000 points will reward players with a golden weapon skin of any hero they choose.

Competitive points will be capped depending on the skill tier players reach.

How to Unlock Competitive Mode

Play Through the Guide

New players of Overwatch 2 will have to play through its tutorial guide, also known as the First-Time User Experience. This makes sure new players are acquainted with the game before stepping foot into Competitive Mode.
