You Will Lose the First Encounter
Empress Tatloch appears alongside two Cavalries during your first encounter. During this fight, your party will be wiped out regardless of your actions.
Focus on Maa'fa the Black Panther
During the second encounter, as you storm Tatloch’s ship, Empress Tatloch fights alongside Maa'fa the Black Panther, who protects her while it remains on the battlefield. Maa'fa has 16 shields, while Tatloch herself has 20 shields, and several of Tatloch’s abilities are strengthened as long as her pet is alive.
Focus on defeating Maa'fa first to remove Tatloch’s protection. Taking down Maa'fa early also limits incoming physical damage and HP-draining attacks.
Prepare for the Second Phase
After Empress Tatloch is defeated, the battle immediately continues into a second phase where she appears as Tatloch the Lady of Grace. There is no opportunity to rest between phases, and the HP and SP your party has at the end of the first phase will carry over.
Before finishing Empress Tatloch, take the opportunity to heal and restore SP so your party enters the next phase in good condition.
Break Her to Remove Life Absorption
As Tatloch the Lady of Grace, she frequently applies Life Absorption to your front row, allowing her to recover HP while dealing damage. This effect is applied at the start of the phase and again whenever she recovers from a break.
The only way to deal with this effect is to break Tatloch, which stops her from sustaining herself through attacks and creates a safe opening to deal damage.
Manage Charm, Poison, and Boost Mode
Tatloch regularly inflicts Charm and Poison, disrupting your party and slowing the fight if left unchecked. Charmed party members may act against your interests, and using healers while Charm is active can result in Tatloch being healed instead.
As her HP drops, Tatloch will also enter boost mode at certain thresholds. If she is allowed to act during these moments, she can unleash powerful multi-hit attacks that spread Poison or Charm across your party.
Whenever Tatloch enters boost mode, prioritize breaking her before she can act again. As the fight progresses, she may also gain additional actions per turn, making timely breaks and careful status management essential to ending the battle.
