How to Use the Knife and Build

The Knife is a Melee weapon in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (BO6) and is unlocked by default. Learn how to use the Knife and the best class build and loadout for it in Black Ops 6.

How to Use the Knife

Hold the Melee Button to Equip

Default Input	Description

Hold down the melee input to pull out your Knife when it is equipped in your loadout's Melee slot. Should you wish to swtich back to your guns, simply use the Switch Weapon button.

Make sure to pull out the Knife first before going up close for a slash since holding the melee button right in front of an enemy will activate an execution animation instead.

Once you have your Knife out, tap any of the above buttons to perform a slash. Slashes can be performed while sprinting and will kill an enemy in one hit. Use your mobility with the knife to flank the enemy and catch them before they can shoot.

Disguise with Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade

The Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade allows you to disguise yourself as a member of the opposing team, helping you get behind enemy lines very quickly. This is best used with the Knife which is less conspicuous than a suppressed weapon.

Any kills done while in a Sleeper Agent disguise will appear on the enemy team's kill feed as a black redacted bar. Experienced players will know that there is a Sleeper Agent on their team, so once you start picking off enemy members with the Knife, make sure to do it quickly!

Be warned that enemy players with the Vigilance perk will be able to detect and see through your Sleeper Agent disguise. Enemy equipment such as the UAV and Prox Alarm will also break it.

The Knife is standard to all loadouts, but it benefits the most from a Recon loadout paired with the Sleeper Agent Field Upgrade for getting on the opposing team's side quickly, provided that none on their team has Vigilance yet and that they do not have equipment to identify you from their own.

Make use also of the other equipment such as Smoke for distractions and escape routes, and add a Blast Trap for setting up traps behind enemy lines.

How to Unlock Knife

Unlocked by Default

The Knife is unlocked by default. You'll be able to equip it once you unlock Custom Loadouts after reaching account Level 4.
