When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
Fallen Gustav's best IVs are +Atk and -Spd. Since Fallen Gustav is an offensive hero with a guaranteed follow-up attack, boosting his Atk yields the highest return in combat.
His Spd is an obvious dump stat and should be his bane of choice.
We recommend +Atk when merging Fallen Gustav up to +10 for similar reasons above.

Fallen Gustav is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he/she deals will be equivalent to his/her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Fallen Gustav chops his enemies' heads off with his unique axe in Headsman Glitnir. This is a strong weapon that can influence combat heavily, assuming he meets the HP check.

Years after the release of Atk Smoke 3, Fallen Gustav introduces the next tier of this skill with Atk Smoke 4.
In addition to the standard smoke effect of inflicting Atk-7 to nearby foes, this tier 4 skill also inflicts the Atk debuff on the foe, grants Def/Res+6 to its wielder for 1 turn and denies enemy follow-up attacks for 1 turn as well.
This skill is amazing on bulky units with low Spd, and Fallen Gustav certainly fits the bill.
Fallen Gustav heavily relies on meeting the HP check of Headsman Glitnir to have a big impact in combat.
When his HP is below the threshold, this mighty weapon becomes a glorified Slaying Axe+.
Thankfully, Fallen Gustav has the tools to remain healthy with his good bulk, Atk Smoke 4 denying follow-up attacks and inflicting an Atk debuff, and A/D Near Trace 3 allowing him to retreat after combat.
Keep Fallen Gustav healthy at all times to ensure that he remains relevant in battle!
Fallen Gustav takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons like Thani or Binding Reginleif, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

It is possible to obtain two of these skills with one copy of Fallen Gustav through pre-inheritance by foddering off a Sedgar for Atk/Def Catch 3 or a Kaze for Atk Smoke 3.
