If you're participating in PvP, we recommend unlocking the characters you'll use, since every bit of advantage helps in PvP. For this reason, the recommended characters for potential unlocking are the highest-rated PvP characters.
Best Character (Trainee) Tier List
Awaken Your Favorite Character
If you have a favorite character that you use to play any game mode frequently, we recommend raising that character's potential level instead.
The monies and other materials needed to awaken characters are easily obtainable, so we recommend catering to your favorites first!
Potential Levels Explained
Unlocks Additonal Skills
Unlocking a trainee's potential gives them new abilities during career, potentially making them better characters. Some offer added versatility via additional debuff skills, while others bolster their current skill set by improving an aspect they are already good at, like Maruzensky's potential skills.
However, note that potential skills aren't automatically unlocked when you unlock potential. You will still have to learn the skill via skill hints during the career mode run.
Unlocks up to Four Additional Skills
Each character starts at level one with a maximum potential level of five. Two of the skills will be normal rarity, while the other two will be rare and have a much greater impact.
Regardless of trainee rarity or gacha exclusivity, each trainee has a maximum potential of five.
How to Unlock Potential Levels
Step-by-Step Guide to Unlocking Potential Levels
| 1 |  From the main menu, click on Enhance. |
| 2 |  Click on Trainee. |
| 3 | 
Click on Potential Levels. |
| 4 |  Select the trainee for whom you wish to unlock the potential. |
| 5 |  Select the potential level and click on Raise Potential. |
In order to unlock a trainee's potential, you will need monies as well as the appropriate materials, which can be obtained via the Friend Point Exchange or Career Runs.
Materials for Potential Level 3 Are Easy To Obtain
As trainees progress through the levels, the materials required to enhance their potential become more challenging to acquire. To unlock the full potential of the system, additional grinding will be necessary.
Level three potential will likely be the soft cap for most trainers, as Dream Glimmer and the other materials required for Level four can be more challenging to acquire. However, these materials can be steadily accrued over time.
