Champions Meeting: Virgo Cup

Virgo Cup Race Course Map

Race Conditions:
Hanshin Turf 1,600m (Mile), Right/Outer
Fall Icon Fall, Sunny Sunny, Firm Ground

Similar Races: Oka Sho, Hanshin Juvenile Fillies, Asahi Hai Futurity Stakes
Course Notes
・The revised version of the Hanshin 1,600m now has a downhill and only one uphill at the Homestretch of the Late-Race. This should make Determined Descent viable now.
Final corner starts before the late-race. This makes Red Shift/LP1211-M virtually useless for Front and Pace but viable for Late and End.
Final straight starts close to start of late-race. Straightaway Spurt is usable again as it activates during the ramp-up and not too late, unlike in Leo Cup. While it's not as strong as in Cancer Cup, it's still a usable acceleration skill for End Closers.
・The 777m point for Triple 7s in near the midpoint of the race, just a few meters past the start of the final corner.

ⓘ Numbers with circles signify the order of the track part in the course. ① in Straights, for example, stands for the 1st straight.

Debuffers

Tier List may be subject to changes. Any Umas may succeed in CM due to the randomized nature of matchmaking, Mood factors, positioning, etc.

Virgo Cup returns to a Mile track, similar to Cancer Cup. As such, several debuffers lose their effectiveness here, as Stamina is less important.

Taiki Shuttle is a Strong Pick

Taiki Shuttle's Unique skill, Shooting for Victory!, has been adjusted in the update to now trigger in the second half of the final corner. This gives her a good chance of activating it just as the late-race starts, making it one of the best acceleration skills for the race. However, it appears to be best used on Taiki Shuttle herself.

Runaway Silence Suzuka Can be a Powerful Blocker

The biggest change to the dominance of Front Runners is the introduction of Runaway with Silence Suzuka. This style lets her be even more aggressive than Front Runners, likely letting her secure the lead for most of the race. This should allow her to effectively deny Angling and Scheming for other Front Runners. However, it is also very stat-intensive and risky, as she will likely lose unless she has very high Stamina, Power, and Wit.

If you have Silence Suzuka, we only recommend running one as a Runaway to counter Front Runners or other Silence Suzukas but not as an ace.

Runaway Style Guide

Front Runners Still Good, but Risky

Even with the balance changes and the introduction of Runaway, Front Runners should still be good for Virgo Cup, mostly due to the power of Angling and Scheming. However, the existence of Runaway Silence Suzuka could make activating it difficult.

If you still want to run them, Seiun Sky is the best choice, while Summer Maruzensky and Smart Falcon (with enough Turf Sparks) are also good. As usual, try to run 2 Front Runners to increase the odds that one of your Aces can snag Angling and Scheming.

Late Surgers and End Closers Remain Viable

Also similar to Cancer Cup, several strong Late Surgers for Mile, like Vodka and Grass Wonder should still be usable. They are easier to build compared to Front Runners, but also require some luck to trigger their key skills at the right times.

End Closers like Narita Taishin and Gold Ship are also competitive, as Straightaway Spurt and Encroaching Shadow are usable again.

Virgo Cup Stat Guidelines

Any S
Prio: ★
Blue Sparks Init. Stats 9★ STA, 9★ PWR
(+63 STA, +63 PWR)
9★ PWR, 9★ PWR
(+126 PWR)
ⓘ Prioritize maximizing stats in this order: Stamina Stamina > Speed Speed > Power Power > Wit Wit > Guts Guts.
┗ Make sure you can at least reach the baselines for Stamina and Guts to avoid losing speed before reaching the end of the race.

As a Mile race, the Virgo Cup is less stamina-intensive. It's best to maximize Speed, Power, and Wit for this race while aiming to meet the recommended Stamina and Guts to avoid slowing down near the end of the race.

Runaway Stat Recommendation

For Runaways, at least 700 Stamina is recommended to last the whole track. It's also best to go as high as you can for Power and Wit to ensure you can block Front Runners and stay ahead.

Best to Train in Unity Cup Scenario

Unity Cup (Aoharu Hai)

The best scenario to train for the Virgo Cup is the Unity Cup, which released on November 6, 2025 (UTC). While you can still train in the URA Finale Scenario, the Unity Cup offers higher stats, making it the ideal way to train your aces.

Support Cards above only cover SR and SSR above to save space.

Stats boosted by these Green Skills are hinted at in their skill icons. For example, Right-Handed shows boots, which means it boosts the Speed stat, Firm Conditions buffs Power, and Front Runner Savvy improves Wit. Aim for these skills to further increase your stats.

Both Nishino Flower cards are notable for having 3 green skills that activate in Virgo Cup. The Nishino Flower Power SR has Hint Frequency to make it slightly easier to get them, and it can also be used for additional Power and Race Bonus.

ⓘ Note that Groundwork needs at least 3 skills to activate in the early-race to proc. This can be the usual 3 green skills or a mix of that and instant speed skills like Early Lead.
ⓘ If you are getting navigational skills, having at least both Dodging Danger and Prudent Positioning are recommended for the best results (Center Stage is not mandatory).
Pace Chaser Pace
Late Surger Late
Mejiro Ryan (Down the Line) Let Let's Pump Some Iron (must be 6th to activate)
End Closer Icon End
Mejiro Ryan (Down the Line) Let Let's Pump Some Iron (must be 6th to activate)

For Front Runners, Groundwork and 3 early-race skills are a must to stay ahead early. 2 Navigational skills will also help (ex. Dodging Danger and Prudent Positioning). Note that Groundwork can be passed down as a White Spark from legacy parents.

Front Runners are also affected the most by Late Starts, so having the skill Concentration/Focus will come in handy. Note that this skill, however, is not always guaranteed. Mid-race velocity skills are also important to keep the lead and ensure Angling and Scheming activates.

Late Surgers and End Closers will want late-race acceleration like Let's Pump Some Iron, Furious Feat, or On Your Left since these are very powerful when activated at the right time. Red Shift can be considered, but its activation may not be at an ideal point. End Closers can also use Straightaway Spurt/Encroaching Shadow again to make reaching their top speed in the final leg quicker.

Post-Balance Adjustments

In addition to the skills previously listed, we expect several skills to now be viable picks in the Virgo Cup. Uma Stan is expected to be a good pick for any style that isn't a Front Runner. The Burning Spirit skills for Power and Guts are also decent choices from Unity Cup, if you don't have anything else to use your skill points on. Front Runners can also use Early Lead/Taking the Lead as a Groundwork trigger and to pick up more acceleration in the early-race.

Straight Descent and Determined Descent should be usable skills for Pace Chasers as there is now a downhill on the course. Head-On is a new acceleration skill found on Mayano Top Gun and Taiki Shuttle and looks to be a competitive acceleration skill for Pace Chasers, too. Nimble Navigator/No Stopping Me! can be considered as well, as these can be strong when activated, but may be hard to trigger if the racers spread out too much in the late-race. Corner Acceleration/Corner Connoisseur may also be picked, but can be risky, considering they have a random activation point.

Balance Adjustments (November 11, 2025)

One notable change for recovery skills with the balance adjustments is the Speed Debuff attached to Keen Eye to all racers ahead of the user. This makes it worth considering for Late Surgers and End Closers in Virgo Cup.

Outside of that, Virgo Cup does not need many recovery skills, as it is a Mile race. One basic recovery skill should be enough if you need to lower the Stamina requirement or to activate Summer Maruzensky's unique skill, A Kiss for Courage. You can also learn recovery skills as a safeguard against debuffers. For most racers, they can get away with not having a blue skill if they have enough Stamina and Guts.

Virgo Cup Red Skills

Red Skills

As mentioned above, Keen Eye is expected to be used as a speed debuff for Virgo Cup. However, other debuffs are not as potent, since it's easier to hit the required Stamina for the track. Also, All-Seeing Eyes can be dodged if they are far enough away from the user's sights.

Another notable debuff is Speed Eater for Front Runners. If the user is ahead, it should help you keep the lead by slowing down the runners behind while increasing your own speed.

Support Cards above have been categorized based on what role they can supplement in the Virgo Cup.

This time around, you can focus on maximizing Speed, Power, and Wit.

Sample Deck Setups

ⓘ Note that the sample decks below may be subject to changes and improvements!
Deck Amount Setups
Speed 3 Wit 2 Power 1
Speed 3 Wit 3
We recommend at least 2 maxed out Wit cards when training in the Unity Cup, adding more as needed. If you don't have MLB Wit cards, focus on Speed and Power cards instead.

Front RunnerFront Groundwork Green Skills:
Right-Handed | Fall Runner
Hanshin Racecourse
This deck assumes Groundwork can be passed down from a white spark. You may substitute the Power card with Smart Falcon SSR / Air Groove Guts SR, if you can only obtain it from cards.
You can also opt to include Tazuna SSR in place of Biko Pegasus if you want Concentration. Nishino Flower SR can also be used for green skills.
Budget Option (1-2 Gacha SSR): If you can get Groundwork from sparks, replace Air Groove Guts with another Speed or Wit card.
Pace ChaserPace
Budget Option (1-2 Gacha SSR):
Late SurgerLate You may use SR Wit cards like Matikanefukukitaru or Marvelous Sunday in place of Nice Nature SSR, but you will lose out on On Your Left!.
Budget Option (1-2 Gacha SSR): It is still best to have either Furious Feat or On Your Left! on your Late Surger.
End Closer IconEnd
Budget Option (1-2 Gacha SSR): Try to include a late-race acceleration skill such as Straightaway Spurt.

Above are sample deck setups you can try for training your Umamusume for Virgo Cup. Remember to swap cards if they conflict with your trainee, and note that the randomized nature of Career runs means you'll have to make multiple runs until you get a desirable career result.

Aim for at least 34 Race Bonus so you can get 4 of each stat instead of 3 when winning career races. If you have the event Mejiro Dober SSR or Marvelous Sunday SR at max level, these are good ways to hit this threshold while being an extra Wit card. If you can't reach this, pick cards with high or max Uncaps, as they will provide better stats overall.
