Recreation in Umamusume: Pretty Derby allows you to improve Mood, which increases stats gained in training and attributes during racing. Learn what Mood does and learn its function and how Recreation affects your Trainee here!
List of Contents

One of the six activities you can do during a Career session is to have fun moments with your Trainee Uma via the Recreation tab. Located on the lower half of the Career Mode screen, it primarily increases the Mood of the current Uma you are training by one or two levels.

Aside from Mood, it provides a small energy boost to the character, which can help sustain your training sessions and reduce failures on crucial turns. Note that Rest still provides a better boost to Energy than Recreation so use this feature instead if your Uma really needs to recuperate their energy.
Rest Guide: How to Increase Energy

You can expend some energy first in Training at the earlier parts of your Trainee Uma's career then check your friendship gauges on the right before conducting Recreation Events.
Since Recreation will not cost any energy, using them after doing these first steps will make your Recreation activities more efficient. Make sure to boost your Trainee's Uma mood to gain these stat boosts.
Training Guide: Which Stats to Train?

One of your main objectives during the Career Mode is to keep the Mood of your Uma above Normal and if possible, keep it at Great Status. Time your Recreation activities during these in-between days to max out your Uma's mood and keep them capable all the way to their races!

Should your Uma somehow encounter random events that may sink their mood below Normal, initiate your Recreation event with the Uma to keep their mood at least above normal.

Mood primarily affects the gained stats your Trainee Uma will get during Training Sessions. Make sure to keep the Mood of your Uma at the Great level as much as possible to make your trainings efficient.
If your Uma's mood somehow goes down to Bad or even awful you will have to prioritize putting their mood up before their race begins!

Your Trainee Uma's Mood will also affect their attributes during races so make sure to again, keep their moods as high as possible before the race day to keep their attributes high!

Pleasing Parfaits can be used to boost the Mood of the Uma at the last turns before the race day to ensure their mood is on top. Do note that these resources are limited and only work on Team Trials so you must be resourceful with these!

Random events from your character and your chosen Support Cards can increase your mood and can also boost the other stats of your Trainee Uma. Make sure to have cards that boost mood to **stack up events that will make your Trainee Uma's stats better!

Other events have a dialogue choice that increases your character's mood. Look for choices that will focus on improving the health of the Uma and you will get a chance to boost their Mood.
