When training Daiwa Scarlet, use the brand new Unity Cup scenario to take advantage of the new Spirit Burst mechanic. This not only lets you gain more stats than normal, but can also provide useful Skill Hints.
Although Daiwa Scarlet has the aptitude and skills for Pace Chaser, we recommend running her as a Front Runner to maximize your chances of activating her Unique Skill. This is especially useful after the upcoming Balance Update on November 11, 2025, which allows you to activate her Unique Skill while she is in second place as well.
Daiwa Scarlet's strong skills are locked behind Potential levels, so try to reach at least Potential Level 3 so you can gain access to Killer Tunes, a strong Medium skill that Daiwa Scarlet will need in her Medium races.
Although Daiwa Scarlet's last career race is the Arima Kinen, a Long race, it is better to just improve her Medium aptitude to account for a majority of her races and improve her Team Trial performance. You can then win the Arima Kinen through Stats.
Before Daiwa Scarlet's career race in Late May of the Classic Year, you will encounter the event "Her". In this event, you will decide which race Daiwa Scarlet will compete in: the Japanese Oaks or the Japanese Derby.
If it is your first time training Daiwa Scarlet, or you are not yet used to the game, it is highly recommended that you race in the Japanese Oaks. This is because choosing to race in the Japanese Derby will have you compete against Vodka, who is a difficult opponent this early in the game.
Additionally, racing and winning in the Japanese Oaks is a requirement if you want to get the Triple Tiara.

Daiwa Scarlet will be part of your Medium Team Trials team as a Front Runner, so we recommend getting the stats above so she has enough Speed and Stamina for the entirety of the race. We also recommend getting a Gold Recovery skill like Swinging Maestro to both lower the Stamina requirement and counter potential debuffers.
If you are only planning to clear a career run with Daiwa Scarlet, then you can aim for lower stat numbers, as the stats above are for Team Trials.
We recommend a 3 Speed, 2 Power, 1 Pal deck for Daiwa Scarlet. This will get you the Speed and Power you need, with the Stamina coming from Power training, Legacy Sparks, and Riko Kashimoto during her Career Events.
Rice Shower (Happiness Just around the Bend) in particular is a great Power card, as it can give you the Gold recovery skill Swinging Maestro through her Career Events.

Get Stamina sparks for Daiwa Scarlet to complement her Support Card deck. This will help you get the Stamina you need for the Medium Team Trials. Further improve her Team Trial performance by getting Medium sparks to improve her aptitude for the race length.
Finally, for running style sparks, go for Front Runner sparks as this will increase her aptitude for the running style from A to S.
You can use either your own Veterans, or borrow the ones from your friends. If you do not have Veterans with full sparks, you can go with whatever you have access to.

As a Front Runner, Daiwa Scarlet will need skills that help her get to the front of the pack and maintain her lead. Groundwork will help you accomplish this in the early race, although you do need to get 3 early-race skills to activate it. You can achieve this using 3 passive (green) skills.
Complement this with various speed skills like Killer Tunes and Professor of Curvature to help her keep her lead. Swinging Maestro will be your main Recovery skill, providing stamina to help you get through Medium races. Angling and Scheming is the best Unique Skill for Daiwa Scarlet, as this will help her accelerate in the late-race when she's in the lead. This pairs well with her Unique Skill, especially after the upcoming Balance Update.
If you cannot get the recommended skills, you can replace them with similar skills that you have access to. You will just need to make sure that Daiwa Scarlet can activate said skills in a race.

| Unyielding, strong-willed, and cheeky, she wants to be number one at everything she does. She usually plays the role of the perfect, mild-mannered honor student, but the truth is that she hates losing more than anything else. If it'll help her be number one, she'll go through any training—no matter how grueling. She sees her rather showy roommate Vodka as both her motivation and her rival. | ||
