Add to Watchlist

Use Rest sparingly to restore energy
Use Rest to restore energy in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Check out what happens when you use Rest, when to Rest, and other ways to gain energy by reading below!

Rest Function

Restores Energy

Oguri Cap Resting

When you use Rest, you will use up one Turn to restore around 30 to 70 energy.

The amount of energy your character will receive depends on which event occurs. There are three possible events you could get: Well-Rested!, All Refreshed, and Sleep Deprived.

All Rest Events

Well-Rested!

Well Rested! restores 50 to 70 energy

The best outcome is Well-Rested! Your character will get +70 energy.

All Refreshed

All Refreshed restores 50 Energy

If you get the All Refreshed event, your character will get 50 energy.

Sleep Deprived

Sleep Deprived restores 30 energy and may give Night Owl

The worst possible event is Sleep Deprived. You will only gain 30 energy and a chance to receive the Night Owl Condition.

This condition will randomly deduct 10 energy from the bar. Remove it by heading to the Infirmary.

Rest & Recreation in Summer Training

Rest and Recreation restores 30 energy and boosts mood

During the Summer Training in Early Jul to Late Aug, Rest and Recreation will be combined into one action.

Choosing this special action will restore +40 energy and boost your mood.

When to Rest

Training Failure is at Least 15% to 25%

Rest when faliure chance is at least 15% to 25%

If your energy is below 50%, there is a chance you could fail a training session. The chance of failure will increase the less energy your character has.

Consider resting when your failure chance is at least 15% to 25% to prevent a failed training session.

You can lower your failure chance by giving your trainee the Practice Perfect ◯ condition. Your trainee can get it from events via Support Cards like Fine Motion (Wave of Gratitude).

Training Guide: Which Stats to Train?

No Friendship Training

Later in your Career, it is recommended to still train with a decent chance of failure if there are two Friendship Training on the facility.

If there are no Friendship Training on key stats or hint levels on important skills, Resting will prepare your character for better training opportunities.

Before Summer Training

Rest before Summer Training to optimize results

In Late June on the Classic and Senior Year, you will be reminded that Summer Training will happen in two turns.

To maximize the event, your character should Rest to gain energy and Restoration if their mood is not Great.

Other Ways to Increase Energy

Wit Training

Wit will restore a little bit of energy

Wit is the only stat that does not consume energy. Instead, it will give your character a little bit of energy.

Wit Support Cards with the Wit Friendship Recovery Support Effect can increase the energy recovered when your trainee triggers Friendship Training with them.

It is a safe stat to train and will boost your skill activation rate.

Trainee and Support Card Events

Gain energy from Trainee and Support Card Events

Random events from your character and your chosen Support Cards can increase your energy.

Some events will also give stat boosts or even raise your character's maximum energy.

Specific Dialogue Choices

Correct dialogue choices can restore energy

Other events have a dialogue choice that increases your character's energy.

A good example is the New Year dialogue choice that happens in Early Jan. Fine the dialogue statements that mentions food or taking a break. If you choose that statement, your trainee will recieve 30 energy.

Most Recreation Events

Most Recreation events restores energy

Doing Recreation will reward you with +10 energy and move your mood up to one stage.

However, there is a one in a three chance to your character will not recieve energy and, instead, boost your mood twice.

Recovering in the Infirmary

If you recieve a bad condition like Night Owl, the Infirmary will be unlocked. Using the Infirmary will grant your character +20 energy and a chance of removing the condition.

Note that curing the condition is not guaranteed, so the worse case scenario is that you will have to make a return trip to the Infirmary the next turn.
