Chasing After You is a unique skill that activates past the second half of the race, in the mid-pack, specifically in the 4th-6th places in a 9-gate race (CM).
This skill increases the user's velocity and reduces the velocity of some opponents in front of her. For its velocity increase, its long duration was observed to be generally favorable for certain Long races, making it effective even in the mid-race if not activated early in the late-race.
Overall, this is a good skill, but the activation requirements are tighter than compared to Gold Ship (Red Strife)'s Anchor's Aweigh!, which activates in 6th-9th places instead. This means there may be some challenge to its activation consistency if its user is an End Closer instead of a Late Surger.

Is Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) Worth It
Competitive for Long Distance Late and Debuffing
Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) is the first released Umamusume with 30% Stamina growth, making her significantly easier to train for Long-distance races. She also already comes with a gold recovery skill and a gold recovery/debuff hybrid skill in her potential kit on top of her unique skill Chasing After You, which decreases the speed of racers ahead.
Cafe can be a competitive Long-based Ace Late Surger to have in your roster, while at the same time being a debuffer with Stamina Siphon or her unique skill. Alternatively, she may also play the role of a strong End Closer, but you'll have to work on getting the necessary skills for this style.

Raise to Potential Lv. 5
If you have enough materials and resources, raising Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow)'s Potential Level 5 is recommended to obtain Stamina Siphon, the gold version of Stamina Eater, which is both a good recovery skill and a gold debuff skill that reduces other opponents' stamina in front of her.
Note that Stamina Siphon requires Cafe to be a bit further back in the mid-race. This means that this is almost always going to activate in the End Closer position, but can vary in activating in the Late Surger position if she is starting to approach the front. No reason still not to get this skill, but just don't count too much on activating it often.
Relax is a Low Priority Skill
While Relax is a gold recovery skill that can have its uses in the late-race, you may just want more consistent skills like Swinging Maestro or Lie in Wait to take its job, knowing that Relax can be expensive to take and that it only activates in the late-race. But if you have no other options at the end of her training, go for it!
Improve Medium Aptitude for Stable Career
Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) has 4 named Medium race goals in her career, so if you want to be comfortable in getting her to win these races, it is recommended you raise her Medium aptitude from B to A with at least 1 star Medium Spark.

Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) has a hidden event named The Tireless Wonder that rewards you with stat gains and skill hints when you hit a target number of Long races. This event triggers at the end of Senior Year, Late December, which is the period of the last Arima Kinen for the career.
Cafe already has 4 Long required races in her career, so you'll only need to schedule at most 2 Long off-career races if you're confident in winning them all. But you are free to do as many Long races as you wish, since this event doesn't have strict grade requirements such as G1.
Note to mind the number of races you do when training in the Unity Cup scenario, since taking races effectively takes you away from a turn of Unity Training.

Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) has a unique event, which involves her getting cured of Night Owl if you have it at the start of the turn. Note that this event is random, so don't depend on it to get your trainee cured. If you're trying to maximize playing safe with energy or Cafe has already had the condition for too long, it's best to just hit the Infirmary.
Conditions Guide: All Positive and Negative Effects
Aim for Enough Stamina During Career
Manhattan Cafe has to run all the Long G1 races in her career, so it's highly recommend to prepare for them by building enough Stamina for these. For Kikuka Sho, aim to have at least 400 Stamina by then. Later on, you'll want a minimum of 500 Stamina, aiming for 600 or better for the Tenno Sho (Spring) to pass the requirement. If you want to win these, it's best to learn a rare recovery skill as well before taking these on.

Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) is a natural Late Surger suited for Long races. Alternatively, she may also be suited for the End Closer style and Medium races.
As primarily a Long racer, Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) will need all the Stamina she can get to survive the distance. Being suited for toward-the-back styles Late and End, she is going to benefit a lot from having high Power also. Make sure to prioritize Speed, Stamina, and Power in that order.
It is important to note that if you cannot reach the stats recommended above, you can instead aim for a similar stat distribution. You can then compensate for the missing stats using skills.

Being a Long-distance racer, Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) works best with a Speed-Stamina mix deck of 3-Speed or more, and at least 2 Power or 2 Stamina cards (1 being the Pal card Riko Kashimoto SSR/R). Cafe's 30% Stamina growth makes it easier to build her for Stamina training, so you can easily fit in another card type for utility purposes.

Adjust your card as needed depending on the style and distance goal you are trainnig for.
These cards will help Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) level her needed Stats (especially with Rainbow/Friendship Training), as well as provide some needed skills.

These stats are enough to clear the URA Finale easily, as they provide enough Speed, Stamina, and Power for all of Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow)'s career races, especially when partnered with the correct skills. As for the deck, you can either run a 4 Speed, 2 Stamina deck, or a 3 Speed, 2 Stamina, 1 Pal deck, with Tazuna Hayakawa as the preferred card.

For Legacy Sparks, we recommend trying to find Stamina and Power sparks to help with Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow)'s career. As for pink sparks, we recommend improving Distance aptitudes first, then Turf, and lastly Style aptitudes. Medium can be considered for her Medium career races.
You can use either your own Veterans, or borrow the ones from your friends. If you do not have Veterans with full sparks, you can go with whatever you have access to.

You may add distance ◯ straightaways and corners as needed.
Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) works best as a Late/End Long-distance racer, so it's best to aim for skills compatible with these style and distances. For most cases, you should aim for at least one gold recovery skill, going for 2 if possible. Recommended general unique skills for these styles from a CM standpoint are typically Behold Thine Emperor's Divine Might and Let's Pump Some Iron.
For Team Trials, more consistently activating skills are recommended such as Red Shift/LP1211-M. Field of view skills like Studious, and other skills like Straightaway Adept or Straightaway Recovery are acceptable just to increase your TT point gain.
If you cannot get the recommended skills, you can replace them with similar skills that you have access to. You will just need to make sure that Manhattan Cafe (Creeping Shadow) can activate said skills in a race.

These events after Japanese Derby are Standing Tall (by winning the race) and Acceptance (finish 2nd until 5th or lower)
