For the Cancer Cup, aim to maximize Speed and Power this time as much as you can while just having enough Stamina to survive the distance. Wit is also essential, since it will improve your positioning as well as the chances for your skills to activate. Guts can follow last, since this acts like your Umamusume's extended stamina for the Last Spurt of the racecourse.

For Front Runners, note that the skill Groundwork can be passed down as a White Spark from legacy parents (similar to Straightaway Spurt). They are also affected the most by Late Starts, so having the skill Concentration/Focus will come in handy.

Red Skills for the Cancer Cup can usually follow the skills from previous cups (like Hesistant Pace Chasers); you'll want skills that can reduce fatigue or reduce velocity, which is likely to have more impact than red skills that depend on the Rushed state.
Make sure to take note that certain Red Skills used before, like Dominator or Mystifying Murmur, are restricted by distance, and so are not recommended for this Mile race.

For the Cancer Cup, we're seeing an upper advantage for the Front Runner Seiun Sky, and the notable Umamusume El Condor Pasa and Smart Falcon.
- Seiun Sky currently has the strongest Front Runner skill in the game: Angling and Scheming, which activates near the last uphill of the course.
- Smart Falcon can be built as Front Runner Turf Mile, and comes built in with the relevant skill Front Runner Savvy and Wet Conditions (potential skill). Unique also activates within the 1st uphill of the course.
- El Condor Pasa's unique Corazón ☆ Ardiente/Victoria por Plancha ☆ activates near the last uphill, and can activate as a safeguard against debuffs when your Stamina starts to dwindle.

The main goal of this strategy is to have a Front Runner deny the activation of Angling and Scheming, which is native to Seiun Sky (but can be passed down to others). Angling and Scheming only activates when its user is in 1st place in the late-race.
Having high Power increases the chance that your Umamusume can lead early on before the late-race in an attempt to deny Angling and Scheming, while high Wit increases the chance of your skills activating to also help maintain that lead.
Skills for Umamusume serving this role can follow the usual, such as having Groundwork and green skills to keep your Front Runner in the lead. Also, if building a blocker, make sure your other aces don't also use the Front Runner strategy as they'll also be affected.
