Increase acceleration by shifting gears when positioned toward the front on the final corner or later. |

Maruzensky's Unique Skill, Red Shift/LP1211-M, activates when she is in the final corner or later, and if she is in the front half of the pack, but not worse than 5th place. The easy activation requirements make the skill reliable, and can be used effectively by both Maruzensky and other Front Runners and Pace Chasers.

When training Maruzensky, use the brand new Unity Cup scenario to take advantage of the new Spirit Burst mechanic. This not only lets you gain more stats than normal, but can also provide useful Skill Hints.
Maruzensky should only be run as a Front Runner, not only because of her aptitude for the running style, but also because trying to improve her aptitude for the other styles will take up too many sparks.
Running as a Front Runner also makes it easier to use her Unique Skill, which requires her to be positioned toward the front to activate.
Increasing Maruzensky's Potential can give you access to certain skills such as Changing Gears, a decent mid-race velocity skill. Try to get to at least Potential Level 3 to get access to it.
Maruzensky will be part of your Mile team for Team Trials. As such, improving her Mile aptitude is important, since this will improve her performance during her races.
You can also improve her Medium aptitude to at least an A to help out with her four Medium career races. It is not necessary to improve her Long aptitude for the Arima Kinen as she only needs to participate in it.
Racing and winning in the Radio Nikkei Sho during Classic Year Early July will trigger a secret event that improves Maruzensky's mood, give her additional stats and Skill points, and provides the Hot Topic status effect.
Although this will take away one of your Summer training sessions, the rewards that you get are worth it.

Maruzensky will be part of your Mile team in Team Trials as a Front Runner. As such, prioritize Speed and Power to help her stay in front of the race. Getting a Gold Recovery Skill like Swinging Maestro will help lower your Stamina requirements, but it is not required.
If you are only planning to clear a career run with Maruzensky, then you can aim for lower stat numbers, as the stats above are for Team Trials.
Training Guide: Which Stats to Train?
We recommend a 3 Speed, 3 Wit deck for Maruzensky, which should help her get the Speed and Power she needs for her races, while also maximizing training time via Wit training. Your Stamina when running this deck will mostly come from Stamina sparks. If you are having a hard time getting the needed Stamina, you can opt to replace one of your Speed cards with Riko Kashimoto (Planned Perfection). Make sure to keep the strong Speed cards like Kitasan Black or Sweep Tosho.
Alternatively, you can run a 3 Speed, 2 Power, 1 Pal deck instead, which will help you get the Speed, Power, and Stamina that you need for your Mile races.
This deck is for players who are starting out and are still trying to get a feel of the game's mechanics and intricacies. This deck can help you get the needed stats to clear the career, while also providing important skills.
Take advantage of the game's borrowing feature to borrow a powerful MLB SSR, like Kitasan Black. Additionally, if you do not have an MLB copy of Riko Kashimoto (Tracen Academy), it would be better to use another SR Power card instead.

These cards will help Maruzensky level her needed Stats (especially with Rainbow/Friendship Training), as well as provide some needed skills.
These stats are enough to clear the URA Finale easily, as they provide enough Speed, Stamina, and Power for all of Maruzensky's career races, especially when partnered with the correct skills.
As for the deck, you can either run a 4 Speed, 2 Power deck, or a 3 Speed, 2 Power, 1 Pal deck, with Tazuna Hayakawa as the preferred card.

For Legacy Sparks, we recommend trying to find Stamina sparks to help you meet the requirements for Maruzensky's races, although you can swap some for Power sparks if you find yourself meeting the requirements easily.. For race length sparks, it's important to get a Mile sparks to improve her performance in Team Trials. You can also try to get 1 Medium spark to push her Medium Aptitude from B to A, which will help wth her career.
For running style sparks, prioritize Front Runner sparks to try and push her aptitude from A to S rank.
You can use either your own Veterans, or borrow the ones from your friends. If you do not have Veterans with full sparks, you can go with whatever you have access to.

Maruzensky is a Front Runner, so she will need skills that help her get to the front and maintain her lead. Groundwork, in particular, is a great skill that Front Runners use to quickly accelerate to the front. Make sure to take early-race skills like Focus and Taking the Lead, or even green skills like Front Runner Savvy to activate Groundwork.
Once Maruzensky is already running, she will need velocity skills to maintain her position. Corner velocity skills like Professor of Curvature and Front Runner and Mile Corners are generally good, as well as other mid-race velocity skills like Fast-Paced and Changing Gears.
As for Unique Skills, Angling and Scheming is the best fit for Front Runners, as it provides a burst of acceleration in the late-race, catapulting you forward for the win.
If you cannot get the recommended skills, you can replace them with similar skills that you have access to. You will just need to make sure that Maruzensky can activate said skills in a race.

Please note this guide has mistaken the activation conditions for both groundwork and Shooting for Victory. Groundwork needs 3 skills at minimum to activate at the start of the race to proc the activation conditions. Only two skills on her list will activate at the start being firm conditions and left handed, you need one more skill. Shooting for Victory requires you to be in the front half of the pack yes, but it requires you to be 3rd place or further back, bad for all front runners.
