What is Claire's Dream Machine? | How to Find and Rewards

Claire's Dream Machine appears whenever you open supply pods, rusted iron chests, and defeat named enemies. Read on to learn what challenges you do in Claire's Dream Machine, locations, what rewards you obtain, and more!

How to Find Claire's Dream Machine

Check the Map to See Its Location and Icon

The easiest way to check for any active Dream Machine is to open the map and find its icon. The map icon will not disappear if you move away from the area, making it easy to track it down again.

Open Supply Pods

There is a chance that Claire's Dream Machine may appear after you open supply pods all over Aesperia. These supply pods may be found in strongholds or in hard-to-reach places.

Open Rusted Iron Chests

You may also find Claire's Dream Machine when you open rusted iron chests. Unlike the supply pods, these chests do not appear in the map, so you may need to look around for a black chest with green aura in the field.

Defeat Named Enemies

Enemies with unique names may have a chance to drop Claire's Dream Machine upon defeat. Unlike supply pods and rusted iron chests, named enemies respawn so you can defeat them over and over until a dream machine appears.

Survival Challenge

Main Goal	Stay alive for 3 minutes on the field.
Optional Goals	・Defeat 30 enemies. ・Defeat 50 enemies. ・Defeat 70 enemies.

Survival Challenge requires you to stay alive within the time limit while fending off hordes of enemies. We recommend defeating the smaller enemies first in order to complete the optional goals and earn better rewards.

Power Challenge

Main Goal	Defeat the boss on the field within 5 minutes.
Optional Goals	・Less than 4 minutes remaining. ・More than 3 minutes remaining. ・Less than 2 minutes remaining.

This challenge pits you against a boss that you need to defeat within the time limit.

It is recommended to check the map beforehand to see if the dream machine activates this challenge, so you can choose the right weapons and relics to defeat the boss.

Control Challenge

Main Goal	Reach the destination within 42 seconds.
Optional Goals	・More than 10 seconds remaining. ・More than 20 seconds remaining. ・More than 30 seconds remaining.

Control Challenge requires you to jump across platforms to reach the destination within the time limit. Relics are not allowed, so you just need to use jumps and double jumps to complete the challenge.

Memory Challenge

Main Goal	Match all the holograms within 4 minutes and 55 seconds.
Optional Goals	・Complete in less than 240 seconds. ・Complete in less than 160 seconds. ・Complete in less than 80 seconds.

This challenge puts you in an area where you interact with rows of the eye icon to find the matching the pair of holograms. You can use dodge to quickly go from one hologram to another to save time and complete the optional goals.

Collecting Challenge

Main Goal	Reach the destination within 2 minutes and 56 seconds.
Optional Goals	・Collect rift energy x80. ・Collect rift energy x100. ・Collect rift energy x120.

Collecting Challenge is a 2D side-scrolling platform minigame that requires you to reach the destination within the time limit. Be sure to collect the rift energy on the platforms as they reward you with items upon doing so.

Maze Challenge (Collect Rift Energy)

Main Goal	Collect rift energy x8 within the time limit
Optional Goals	・Collect rift energy x11. ・Collect rift energy x13. ・Collect rift energy x15.

Maze Challenge puts you inside a labyrinth with the goal of collecting a minimum amount of rift energy before the time runs out. Gathering rift energy may require puzzle-solving as some are located behind an energy wall that needs to be deactivated.

Maze Challenge (Get Out of the Maze)

Main Goal	Get out of the maze
Optional Goals	・Complete in less than 4 minutes. ・Complete in less than 3 minutes. ・Complete in less than 2 minutes.

Another variation of the Maze Challenge puts you insde a labyrinth where you need to get to the exit within the time limit.

Use the Omnium Handcannon to skip the maze

You can use the Omnium Handcannon to skip going through the maze and complete the challenge in less than 2 minutes. Aim and shoot the floor to create a platform and run on the top part of the maze towards the exit.

Energy Harvest Challenge

Main Goal	Collect 300 points of energy within 1 minute and 55 seconds
Optional Goals	・Collect in no more than 240 seconds. ・Collect in no more than 180 seconds. ・Collect in no more than 120 seconds.

Energy Harvest Challenge is a 2D side-scrolling minigame where you collect falling orbs until you reach 300 points within the time limit.

The orbs have three colors: blue, purple, green, and gold. The first two give you points while the green orb increases your movement speed and the gold orb spawns multiple orbs for a few seconds.

Avoid picking up the snowflake orbs as these freeze you for a short period of time. Press or tap the attack button repeatedly to break free from the ice.

Defense Challenge

Main Goal	Stop the enemies from entering the transmission portal.
Optional Goals	・No enemies entering. ・Less than 2 enemies entering. ・Less than 4 enemies entering.

Defense Challenge requires you to use a turret stop waves of enemies from entering the portal. You can use the turret's special attack to stun the enemies and stop them from moving.

Black and Gold Nuclei

There is a chance that you may receive Gold Nucleus and Black Nucleus as a reward for completing a challenge in Claire's Dream Machine.

Pieces of Equipment

Some challenges also reward you with Random Equipment Boxes. These boxes contain random pieces of equipment when opened from the Backpack menu.

Relic Shards

There is also a chance that you can obtain relic shards if the challenge rewards you with a Fine Equipment Box. You need to open this item from the Backpack menu and choose the relic shard inside to obtain it.

Matrices

Similar to equipment, you can also get matrices when completing the challenge. These appear inside random boxes so you need to open them from the Backpack menu to obtain the matrices.

Gear Enhancement Materials

Advancement Modules and Booster Modules are also available, which are usually only available as rewards from Bygone Phantasm. These items are used for Gear Enhancement, and Advancement Modules in particular are required to enhance Gear pieces past the limits every 5 levels, making them highly valuable.

Optional Challenges

Claire's Dream Machine is an optional challenge that appears randomly whenever you open a supply pod and rusted iron chest or defeat an enemy with a unique name in the overworld.

You may need to wait for a few seconds after opening a chest for Claire's hologram to appear to start the challenge.

Expires in 7 Days

Once a dream machine appears, you can check its location on the map and see its challenge and expiry. Be sure to complete these challenges as they will despawn from the world in 7 days.
