Cave Walkthrough: List of Pokemon and How to Unlock

This guide will cover all of the Pokemon that can be found in Cave of Outaway Cave in New Pokemon Snap (Pokemon Snap 2) for the Nintendo Switch, as well as how to unlock the level. Locations for all Pokemon in Cave, as well as alternate routes, requests, crystabloom and ancient ruins locations can be found here!

How to Raise Your Research Level

Pokemon Locations

Pokemon	Where to Find
Vivillon	A group of Vivillon can be found in the forest area of the first alternate route. A hidden Vivillon can be found after throwing an Illumina Orb at the leftmost rock formation at the forest area on the first alternate route.
Magikarp	As you descend to the cave, throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystabloom near the waterfall and several Magikarps should appear. You can find a Magikarp at the rimstone alternate route. Scan the area to find the ??? and throw Fluffuits for the Pokemon to jump out of the water.
Beartic	As you descend to the cave, look up to find a Beartic on the cave's ceiling.
Braviary	You can find a Braviary on top of a rock as you descend to the cave.
Crobat	A Crobat flies in front of you at the beginning of the course. You can find a group of Crobats flying around as you descend down the cave. Two Crobats can be found sleeping on the cave's ceiling on the main route. Waking them up lets you take an alternate route leading to an area with a rimstone formation. Several Crobats appear on the area with the two Rampardos on the main route. You can find another two sleeping Crobats when heading towards the first alternate route.
Joltik	A group of Joltiks can be found as soon as you start the course. You can find some Joltiks on a small opening on the left of the main route. You can find two Joltiks on one of the giant crystals on the first alternate route. A Joltik can be found beside a Crystabloom on the secret alternate route leading to the other part of the forest area.
Geodude	Once you descend down the cave, look to your left to find a Geodude clinging to the wall. You can find two Geodudes battling after taking the first alternate route. After seeing the first Goodra on the main route, look to your right to find a small opening that contains two Geodudes and a Sableye. On the main route, you can find another Geodude clinging to a stalactite near the end of the course. After the Mawile allows you to enter the other side of the forest, look behind to find a Geodude clinging to the wall.
Carbink	A group of Carbink can be found as soon as you start the course. At Research Level 2, you can find two Carbinks and a Glalie as you descend down the cave. At Research Level 3, you can find a two Carbinks along with a Mawile as you head towards the area with the giant crystals on the first alternate route. A group of Carbinks can be found in the forest area of this course. Throw Illumina Orbs for it to come up of its hiding spots.
Glalie	At Research Level 2, a Glalie can be found on your right as you descend down the cave.
Gengar	As soon as you start the course, look behind and find a portal on the bottom right and throw an Illumina Orb for Gengar to pop out. At Research Level 1, you can find a Gengar on the main route before it jumps down to the portal. At the end of the main route, you can find a portal near the area with a Rampardos. Gengar may sometimes pop out from this portal. Find the portal to your right and throw an Illumina Orb for the Pokemon to pop out. At Research Level 3, you can find a Gengar on your right while descending down the cave.
Noibat	A group of Noibats can be found as soon as you start the course. As you descend down the cave, look your to right to find a waterfall. Throw Fluffruits on the small cave left of the waterfall for a Noibat to appear. Before entering the main path, throw Illumina Orbs at the river and three Noibats will fly out. Several Noibats can be found alongside Drifloon near the exit point on the main route. Two Noibats can be seen descending down to the cave. At Research Level 3, you can follow them and to head towards the first alternate route. Another group appears after throwing an Illumina Orb at the Crystabloom on a small opening on the left side of the tunnel on the main route.
Pumpkaboo	As soon as you start the course, look to your left find an opening that contains two Gengars, two Carbinks, and a single Pumpkaboo. As you descend down the cave, look up to find a Pumpakaboo near the cliff side. Throwing an Illumina Orb at it causes it to activate its searchlights. Follow the two Noibats to head towards the alternate route leading to the giant crystals. Once you see the two Geodudes battling, look behind and run a scan to find a hidden Pumpkaboo. As you head towards the opening, look to your right to find a Pumpkaboo floating in the distance. A Pumpkaboo can be found on the forest area of the course. To get the Pumpakboo to appear near the exit point of the rimstone alternate route, you need to find three Pumpkaboos near the starting area and throw an Illumina Orb at them. One can be found on the left side of the starting point, behind jagged rocks. Another is on a cliff right of Gengar's portal. The last one can be found on the upper left as you start to descend to the cave.
Croagunk	A sleeping Croagunk can be found on one of the platforms while descending down the cave. Another sleeping Croagunk can be found on the top right as you head towards the first alternate route.
Drifloon	A group of Drifloons can be found as soon as you start the course. Several Drifloons can be found alongside Noibats near the exit poiunt on the main route. At Research Level 3, you can find a group of Drifloons floating around as you descend down the cave. A group of Drifloon can be found on the giant crystal area after taking the first alternate route.
Clefairy	At Research Level 2, you can find a Clefairy near the Crystabloom as you descend down the cave. On the main route, look left to find two sleeping Clefairy near a small opening on the side of the cave.
Sableye	As you head towards the forest area on the first alternate route, look behind to find a sleeping Sableye on one of the giant crystals. You can find a Sableye in the area as you head towards the main route.
Rampardos	At Research Level 2, a Rampardos can be found as you descend down the cave. Two Rampardos can be found after taking the main route near the exit point. You can find a sleeping Rampardos near the exit point of the forest area.
Hydreigon	At Research Level 3, a Hydreigon appears and flies towards the main route. You can find it again hovering around the area near the exit point on the main route. After the Mawile allows you to enter the other side of the forest, look to your left to find the sleeping Hydreigon near the exit point.
Goodra	At Research Level 3, you can find a Goodra on your left when heading towards the main route. A second Goodra can be find near the end of the course on the main route.
Mawile	At Research Level 2, you can find a Mawile along with two Carbinks as you head towards the area with the giant crystals on the first alternate route. Another Mawile can be found on top of a giant crystal. This one guards the alternate route leading towards the other side of the forest area. After the Mawile allows you to enter the other side of the forest, you can find another on the forest area before the exit point.
Jolteon	After the Mawile allows you to take the second alternate route, wait for the Neo-One to descend down the secret area of the forest. Look behind to find Jolteon.
Diancie	Diancie appears in two places in the first alternate route. Throw Illumina Orbs at the two Carbinks and the Mawile for this legendary Pokemon to emerge from behind the crystals. As you reach the small forest area, throw Illumina Orbs at the Carbink and play the Melody for Diancie to appear.

Cave Alternate Routes

Alternate Route 1 - Noibat Area

Upon reaching Research Level 3, you can follow the two Noibats as they enter an alternate route to the cave. Look for the two Noibats as you descend down and then run a scan to head towards this Alternate Route.

Alternate Route 2 - Alternate Forest Path

Reaching this Alternate Route requires following a few steps. See the table below to learn how to unlock this branching route!

How to Unlock Alternate Route 2

1		Start this course at Research Level 3. Proceed through the course and head towards the first alternate route.
2		Throw Illumia Orbs at the two Carbink and the Mawile.
3		Wait for Diancie to show up and throw an Illumina Orb at it.
4		Look for the Mawile on top of a rock near the crystals and run a scan to proceed through the alternate route.

Alternate Route 3 - Rimstone Formation

Reaching this Alternate Route requires following a few steps. You need to follow the Hydreigon and wake up the two sleeping Crobats to unlock this path.

How to Unlock Alternate Route 3

1		Start Cave at Research Level 3 and follow the Hydreigon as you descend down the cave.
2		Look to your upper left and throw an Illumina Orb at the first sleeping Crobat.
3		Look to your upper right and play the Melody at the second sleeping Crobat.
4		As you reach the area with a Rampardos, run a scan and head to the alternate route.

Cave Crystablooms

Crystabloom	Where to Find
Crystabloom 1	As you descend down the area, look to your right to find the Crystabloom near a waterfall. Throwing an Illumina Orb at it causes several Magikarps to appear.
Crystabloom 2	While descending down the area, look to your left to find this Crystabloom and a group of Clefairy.
Crystabloom 3	On the main route, look to your left to find this Crystabloom on an opening. Throwing an Illumina Orb at it causes a part of the cave to glow and a few Noibats to fly out.
Crystabloom 4	After taking the rimstone alternate route, look behind while descending down the exit point to find this Crystabloom. Throwing an Illumina Orb at it causes the nearby Drifloon to puff up.
Crystabloom 5	Head to the first alternate route and look to your left to find this Crystabloom in between the two giant crystals. Throwing an Illumina Orb at it causes a few Drifloons to fly out.
Crystabloom 6	As you descend to the small forest area in the first alternate route, find this Crystabloom located behind the Ancient Ruins.
Crystabloom 7	After proceeding through the alternate route to the forest, look to your right to find this Crystabloom on top of a rock next to a Joltik.

Start this course at Research Level 2. Head to the Alternate Route and reach the area with a small jungle. Look right and run a scan to find the Ancient Ruins.
