Badlands (Night) Walkthrough: List of Pokemon and How to Unlock

This guide will cover all of the Pokemon that can be found in Badlands (Night) of Barren Badlands in New Pokemon Snap (Pokemon Snap 2) for the Nintendo Switch, as well as how to unlock the level. Locations for all Pokemon in Badlands (Night), as well as alternate routes, requests, crystabloom and ancient ruins locations can be found here!

How to Raise Your Research Level

Pokemon Locations

Pokemon	Where to Find
Tyranitar	Right behind you as soon as you start the course on Research Level 1. Just a bit past the first Crystabloom on Research Level 2.
Lycanroc (Midday Form)	On the upper ledge to your left as soon as the course starts. If you throw an Orb at this first Lyacanroc, he should reappear in the poisonous area later on. In Research Level 1, Lycanroc can be ushered along in the level and later reappearing on a higher ledge just past the poisonous area. Lycanroc will accompany Rockruff and they will howl at the moon.
Torchic	Playing with other small Pokemon right at the start of the course. Can be found by the bird's nest when going through the alternate path. You'll find this Pokemon as part of the Guardian of Friends request. In Research Level 1, Torchic and friends will be playing hide and seek in the valley with holes in the wall. Be quick to snap pictures of all three of them.
Shinx	Playing with other small Pokemon right at the start of the course. Can be found by the bird's nest when going through the alternate path. You'll find this Pokemon as part of the Guardian of Friends request. In Research Level 1, Shinx and friends will be playing hide and seek in the valley with holes in the wall. Be quick to snap pictures of all three of them.
Tepig	Playing with other small Pokemon right at the start of the course. Can be found by the bird's nest when going through the alternate path. You'll find this Pokemon as part of the Guardian of Friends request. In Research Level 1, Tepig and friends will be playing hide and seek in the valley with holes in the wall. Be quick to snap pictures of all three of them.
Rockruff	Playing with other small Pokemon right at the start of the course. Can be found by the bird's nest when going through the alternate path. You'll find this Pokemon as part of the Guardian of Friends request. In Research Level 1, Rockruff can be ushered along in the level and later reappearing on a higher ledge just past the poisonous area. Lycanroc will accompany it and they will howl at the moon.
Diglett	There are plenty of Diglett throughout the stage, all of them will start out burrowed underground. You should be able to spot them either by scanning or by watching out for the dirt particles above where they are burrowed. Throw an Illumina Orb where they are burrowed to let them pop up from the ground. By taking more pictures of Diglett throughout the level, more will appear at the end of the level.
Sandshrew	Can be found to your left as soon as the course starts. Another Sandshrew can be found on the main path just past the geysers.
Vivillon	This course is home to the most variants of Vivillon in the game. When playing through Research Level 2, 3 different types of Vivillon can be seen flying away from the player. Throw Illumina Orbs at these three and they will call for more Vivillon forms later in the course. On the alternate path, you can find more Vivillon on your left. If you were able to Orb the first 3 types of Vivillon, proceed along the alternate path and throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystabloom to your right, before reaching the poisonous area. Up to 6 more types of Vivillon will appear. This is also necessary as part of the Vivillon Valley request.
Zeraora	You should be able to spot Zeraora sleeping behind a rock formation to your left on Research Level 2. You can wake it up here by throwing a Fluffruit at it. If you are following the main path after waking Zeraora up, you can take another picture of him defending Crustle from a Tyranitar as part of the Illusion of the Badlands request. If you are following the alternate path after waking Zeraora up, you can catch Zeraora again running across the tops of the rock formations throughout the course. If you arrive at the end fast enough, you may spot him in one of the holes, or running towards you just before you reach the exit teleporter.
Magikarp	Several Magikarp can be found flopping by the first geyser in Research Level 2.
Crustle	Crustles may be found along the main path, just like they were in Badlands (Day). The first Crustle may be found between the two geysers. A second Crustle may be found to the clearing on your right just past the first Crystabloom.
Mandibuzz	A Mandibuzz can be found perched atop the large boulder near the first geyser in Research Level 1. Can be found by the bird's nest when going through the alternate path. You'll find this Pokemon as part of the Guardian of Friends request. Mandibuzz may be found perched on a tree branch just before you enter the valley with the holes in the wall.
Gliscor	A Gliscor will swoop in towards you as you move past the geysers on the main path. Several more Gliscor can be found sleeping while hanging upside down. You can wake them up by throwing Fluffruit at them. By waking them up, they will reappear near the crater area later on in the level. When taking the alternate route, a Gliscor will appear just as the geyser launches the NEO-ONE into the air.
Scolipede	A Scolipede can be found resting near the second Crystabloom of the course in Research Level 1. Another Scolipede will also be resting near the meteor crater. This Scolipede is part of the Gassy Swamp Battle Request.
Swalot	Swalot can be found in the same place where he is during Badlands (Day). Even more Swalot can appear if you light up the Crystabloom in this part of the course.
Minior	Three Miniors in their Meteor Form will fall from the sky as you approach the crater area. We recommend using the Burst Mode of your camera to capture this quick encounter.
Kangaskhan	Sleeping Kangaskhan may be found in a clearing just before the valley with the holes in the wall.

Badlands (Night) Alternate Routes

Alternate Route 1 - Riding the Geyser

To unlock the alternate route at Badlands (Night), you throw an Illumina Orb and take a photo of at least three Digletts at the beginning of the course. After the Digletts move to the large boulder, throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystabloom next to it to access the alternate route.

1		Start Badlands (Night) at Research Level 2. Look down to the ground and throw an Illumina Orb at the moving dust to uncover a Diglett. Take a photo of it. You need to do this at least three times to move the Digletts near the large boulder.
2		Three Digletts should appear next to the large boulder. Throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystabloom.
3		If done correctly, the Digletts will move the large boulder to block the geyser. Run a scan to take the alternate route.

Sleepy Gliscor Research Lv. 2	Wake up the Vivillon to make it use Sleep Powder on Gliscor and take a photo of Gliscor as it yawns. Sleepy Gliscor Walkthrough
Illusion of the Badlands Research Lv. 2	Hit Zeraora with a Fluffruit to wake it up and wait for it to climb to the top of the canyon. Badlands (Night) Crystablooms

Crystabloom	Where to Find
Crystabloom 1	At the beginning of the course, find the Crystabloom on the right of the large boulder.
Crystabloom 2	After passing through the pools of water, look to your right to find the Crystabloom on one of the canyons.
Crystabloom 3	At the toxic swamp area, look to your left to find the Crystabloom.
