On July 29th, 2021, Nintendo of America announced that New Pokemon Snap will receive an update on August 3, 2021. This new update includes three new explorable areas, as well as up to 20 new Pokemon.
Following this pleasant surprise announcement, the Official Pokemon YouTube Channel posted this trailer which showcased these three new areas coming to New Pokemon Snap.
The NEO-ONE shrinks when you explore this secret side path in the nature park on Florio Island, so the Pokémon you see will look gigantic. You can even hear their breathing and footsteps in this thrilling area, and you might spot other kinds of behavior from Pokémon you’ve seen before!

As part of the free content update, a new alternate route can be found on Park (Day) after crossing the first bridge. Scan the tree on your left in the grassy area where the Grookey sleeps. A cutscene will play, showing the Neo-One shrinking down to enter the hole in the tree.
Discovering this alternate route unlocks the Side Path (Day) and Side Path (Night) course.

Mightywide River is on Belusylva Island, where a large river flows through a rugged valley. This nurturing water source provides the entire island with sustenance. A variety of Pokémon gather near the river. You’ll be conducting research as you ride down the river, so be on the lookout for rapids as you search for Pokémon, and keep your camera ready so you don’t miss capturing them in action!
