How to Raise Your Research Level

Pokemon Locations

Pokemon	Where to Find
Clamperl	You can find a group of Clamperls near Octillery on the main path at Research Level 1. The second one can be found being carried away by one of the Drifblims as you approach the last area at Research Level 2.
Crabrawler	There are some Crabrawlers on the beach at the starting point. Another set can also be found near the exit point.
Zangoose	You can find the first Zangoose on the beach at the starting point. To find the second Zangoose, you need to throw an Illumina Orb at the Primarina near the starting point and take the alternate route.
Wingull	A single Wingull can be found on a rock at Research Level 2. Take the main path and look to your left to find this Pokemon.
Vivillon	A group of Vivillons appear in front of you upon starting this course. A second Vivillon can be found just before entering the cave near the starting point.
Seviper	Seviper can be found hiding in a bush near the starting point. Throw a Fluffruit for the Pokemon to come out. Another Seviper can be found in the main path on an island with Octillery.
Sandygast	You can find Sandygast near the exit point. Throw a Fluffruit at it for the Pokemon to emerge from the sand.
Pyukumuku	A group of Pyukumuku can be found on an island to your left just before taking the alternate routes. The second group can be found on the main path on your right.
Primarina	You can find Primarina on top of a rock at the starting point. To get it on the second location, throw an Illumina Orb at it and take the alternate route to find it sitting on an island with a Crystabloom.
Pikachu	A pair of Pikachu can be found at the starting point of the course. To get them to appear on the last area, you need to throw a Fluffruit at the Crabrawler from the starting point and head to the main path.
Octillery	You can find the first Octillery on an island with a Crystabloom on the main path. The second Octillery is near the exit point.
Mareanie	Take the alternate route to find a beach with a Mareanie next to a Corsola.
Magikarp	You can find the first Magikarp by throwing a Fluffruit at an opening on the cave's ceiling. The second one can be found sleeping on an island at the main path on Research Level 1.
Inkay	Inkay can be found in the waters near the starting point and as you continue to the main path.
Finneon	You can find a group of Finneon on the last area of this course.
Exeggutor	Many sleeping Exeggutor can be found at the starting point of the course. A single one can also be found at the exit point.
Drifblim	From the starting point, look to your left to find some Drifblim emerging from the forest. A second group can be found on the main path as you approach near the exit point of the course.
Corsola	Take the alternate route to find a beach with a Corsola next to a Mareanie.
Bellossom	You can find a group of Bellosom on an island with other Pokemon at the alternate route.
Raichu	A surfing Raichu can be found near the exit point at Research Level 1. The second one is only available at Research Level 2 and replaces the sleeping Magikarp on the island at the main path.

Beach (Night) has one Alternate Route in the middle of the course. Run a scan to take this Alternate Route.

If you take the Alternate Route, you can take a photo of Primarina singing and get a 4 Star Photo.

Sitting and Waiting Research Lv. 2	Throw an Illumina Orb at the Primarina on the rock. Take the branching path, then throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystalbloomto make Primarina sing a new song. Snap a photo of the happy Zangoose. Reward: Hat 4 Sitting and Waiting Walkthrough
When Archenemies Meet Research Lv. 2	Throw an Illumina Orb at the Primarina on the rock. Then throw Fluffruit at the bush to make Seviper come out. Take a photo of the two battling. When Archenemies Meet Walkthrough
Inkay by Moonlight Research Lv. 1 or higher	Feed Fluffruit to all of the Inkay that appear along the course. When all five assemble toward the end, play the melody to make them line up. Snap a photo of them jumping into the air. Inkay by Moonlight Walkthrough
A Casual Gesture Research Lv. 2	Throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystalbloom while the Octillery is flinching, then snap a photo of it scratching its head afterward. Reward: Rita (Smiling) A Casual Gesture Walkthrough
Fins Aflutter Research Lv. 2	Throw a Fluffruit at the Sandygast in front of an Octillery, which will cause the Octillery to run away. Snap a photo of the Finneon that jump in the air. Reward: Todd Fins Aflutter Walkthrough
Bigger! Even Bigger! Research Lv. 2	Lure the Crabrawler over to the Sandygast so it will use Sand Attack. Snap a photo of the Sandygast once it grows to full size. Reward: Effect 14 Bigger! Even Bigger! Walkthrough

Beach (Night) Crystablooms

Crystabloom	Where to Find
Crystabloom 1	You can find this Crystabloom at the starting point just before entering the cave. Look to your left and find the flower next to a bush.
Crystabloom 2	On the main path, you can find this Crystabloom on an island with Octillery. Throwing an Illumina Orb at the flower causes Octillery to spray ink or fight Seviper at Research Level 3.
Crystabloom 3	Take the alternate route to find this Crystabloom on a small island. If Primarina is there, you can throw an Illumina Orb to enchance its song.

To get the two Pikachu to show up at end of course, the Crabrawler you have to hit needs to jump from the tree BEFORE you hit it. So you have to let it jump down and block the Pikachu, but hit it before it splashes at them. It took me many tries to figure this out and I haven’t seen anyone specify that.

I think there’s an issue where two of the crystablooms are swapped in how they register on the map. Try taking a pic of the one on the “stage”. I know this comment is old; just answering so others can see.
