How to Raise Your Research Level

  • At the start of the course, be prepared to snap a photo of Skorupi quickly before he buries himself in the sand.

  • More Skorupi are hidden in sand mounds across from the first group of Crystabloom.
New Pokemon Snap HelioliskHeliolisk
  • A lone Heliolisk can be found wandering the sand dunes early on in the course.

  • In the oasis, a Heliolisk can be found napping next to one of the trees in the middle of the water.

  • As you descend the sands towards the end of the level, a Heliolisk can be found near one of the sand pits on the left.

  • Mandibuzz will be flying overhead at the beginning of the course.

  • As you go over the hump, more Mandibuzz can be found flying in this area.

  • A few Mandibuzz can be found perched on top of a rock formation to the right of the oasis. One of them next to a Crystabloom.

  • From Research Level 2, after taking the alternate route towards the Onix territory, two Mandibuzz can be found perched on the cliffs to your right. You should be able to spot them after the descent, positioned right below the Crystabloom.

  • From Research Level 2, after taking the alternate route towards the Onix territory, more Mandibuzz can be found perched atop rocks. One of them will drop a boulder that will awaken an Onix beneath.

  • A Hippowdon can be found in the oasis playing with a Torchic.

  • Two more Hippowdon can be found along the main path to the left of the Oasis.

  • Even more Hippowdon can be found near the sand pits at the end of the main course.

  • At least two Cacnea can be found stationary near the start of the course.

  • Two more Cacnea can be found on a large sand dune to the left of the Oasis when following the main path.
New Pokemon Snap MiniorMinior
  • The first two Minior of the course are hidden beneath the sand. Use Scan to get a good idea of where they are, then use Illumina Orbs to reveal them from the sand. The first Minior should be towards your left when the course starts.

  • The second Minior can be found shortly after the first one, but can be found behind one of the small sand mounds made by Skorupi. Use Scan and Illumina Orbs to get them out.

  • By waking up the first two Cacnea of the course with Scan, the third Minior can be found at the end of the main path chasing the Cacnea around.

  • Can be found in the oasis.

  • As you go over the hump. look to your right where you'll spot Lycanroc resting atop the rock formations.

  • From Research Level 2, another Lycanroc can be found mingling with the Hippowdon to the left of the Oasis.

  • Sandstorm-Pattern Vivillon can be found towards the end of the main path.
New Pokemon Snap TrapinchTrapinch
  • By throwing Fluffruit into the left sand pit at the end of the main course, Trapinch will be come out and try to look for the food.

  • From Research Level 2, throwing an Illumina Orb at the Scorbunny at the end of the course will excite Scorbunny. This prompts him to dig in an area next to the sand pit, revealing another Trapinch.

  • By throwing Fluffruit into the right sand pit at the end of the main course, Pinsir will leap out.
New Pokemon Snap MagikarpMagikarp
  • By throwing Fluffruit into the water of the oasis, a Magikarp may splash out of the water. This Magikarp is also necessary as part of the Sprinting in Surprise request.

  • Six instances of Onix appear on the map, but keep in mind most of them are at the end of the alternate path.
New Pokemon Snap FlygonFlygon
  • By lighting up each of the three Crystablooms found at the beginning of the course, the sand tornado will settle down revealing a Flygon. Flygon may also pick up a Fluffruit on the ground to reappear later in the course.

  • If offered a Fluffruit at the beginning of the course, Flygon reappears near the sand pits at the end of the main path, bringing the Fluffruit to hungry Trapinch.

  • Can be spotted to the right of the oasis.
New Pokemon Snap ScorbunnyScorbunny
  • Can be found behind a rock to the right at the beginning of the course. May require Fluffruit to get him in a more visible position.

  • Can be found near the end of the main path, close to the sand pits.

New Pokemon Snap SilicobraSilicobra
  • While on the main path, certain bushes near the oasis may start rustling. Throw Fluffruit at these bushes to reveal a Silicobra.

  • Near the end of the main path, a Silicobra is hidden beneath the sand near a Crystabloom. Hit the Silicobra's snout with a Fluffruit to reveal him from the sand.

At Research Level 2, you can take this Alternate Route to head to the path on the right. Run a scan near the oasis to find this Alternate Route.

Near the start of the course, a Cacnea will stray too close to a sand tornado. Take a photo of him as he flies in the air when he gets swept up by this gust of wind.

Research Lv. 2 or higher
Make the sand vortex go away by throwing Illumina orbs at the 3 crystablooms, then throw a fluffruit where the vortex was. After Flygon picks up the fluffruit, snap a photo of Flygon feeding it to the Trapinch.

As soon as the level starts, Turbo all the way to the right side of the oasis. A Mandibuzz will walk out of a cave to your right. You have to feed it with a fluffruit before it flies away. Take a photo of it while it's eating the fluffruit!

Throw fluffruit in the water surrounding Heliolisk until a Magikarp splashes out of the water, which will cause Heliosk to be surprised and run across the water.

Allow Lycanroc to run atop the rock formation to reach the end of the cliff. Once it does, scan then Lycanroc will howl! Zoom in and take your shot.

Lead Lycanroc to the Tyranitar using Fluffruit. They will taunt each other before Lycanroc attempts to flee into a nearby cave. Take a photo of the moment that Tyranitar smashes the rock leading into the cave.

Sands (Day) Crystablooms

Crystabloom Where to Find
Crystabloom 1 Three Crystabloom can be found near the start of the course. Lighting these three up will cause the nearby sand tornado to settle down, revealing a Pokemon.
Crystabloom 2 This Crystabloom can be found on a rock formation to the right of the oasis. A Mandibuzz can be found roosting nearby.
Crystabloom 3 This Crystabloom can be found in the middle of the Oasis. It doesn't appear to have any effect in the day.
Crystabloom 4 This Crystabloom can be found near the end of the main path of the course. It doesn't appear to have any effect in the day.
Crystabloom 5 This Crystabloom can be found to your right as you descend into the Onix territory when taking the alternate path.

Can anyone explain why I can’t use any poke balls only the apples

Continuation... 4. If you wake up only one Minior then only one Cacnea will be chasing a Minior (the other will chase a tumbleweed). Likewise waking only one Cacnea means only one Minior/Cacnea appearance. The investigation point near the sand pits that comes up as "???" on the scan is a Minior shell. It's heavily implied that the two Minior at the end of the level shed their shells before they encounter the Cacnea.
