How to Raise Your Research Level

  • Can be found near the start of the course, swimming close to the surface of the water.
New Pokemon Snap WingullWingull
  • Can be found flying overhead near the beginning of the course.

  • Can also be found hovering above the whirlpool.

  • More may be found soaring to your left, past the Wailord.

  • Some might be resting on top of some rocks just before the split in the path.
New Pokemon Snap PikachuPikachu
  • By lighting up the first Crystabloom found in this course, a Pikachu riding on a Mantine will appear throughout the course. This Pikachu will always appear with the Mantine. They can first be spotted riding in from the left side of the map, where they will then surf around in laps behind you,

  • As you apporach the Wailord, Pikachu will again come from behind you while riding the Mantine, slowly moving to the left of the course.

  • On both the main and alternate route, Pikachu will again appear a few moments before the course ends. Be quick to snap a photo before you are teleported back to the lab.

  • Aside from the Mantine found with the Pikachu as described above, Mantine also appear together in a group just before the Wailord surfaces.

  • More Mantine can be found past the Wailord, occassionally leaping into the air.
New Pokemon Snap SharpedoSharpedo
  • Can be found lurking near the first Crystabloom.

  • Another Sharpedo will swim in from your left as you approach the whirlpool.

  • From Research Level 3, a Sharpedo may be found past the Wailord. This Sharpedo will have a swimming race with the nearby Machamp.

  • When tossing Fluffruit into the middle of the whirlpool, Magikarp will splash out from it's center.

  • A large Wailord will surface from beneath the ocean around halfway through the stage.

  • From Research Level 2, a second Wailord may also surface to the right of this first Wailord.
New Pokemon Snap PelipperPelipper
  • May be found flying to the left of the Wailord.

  • May be found flying to the right, just before the split in the path.

  • May be found resting atop the water in the alternate route.
New Pokemon Snap MachampMachamp
  • Can be found stretching it's muscles on top one of the rocks in the middle of the ocean.
New Pokemon Snap CorsolaCorsola
  • A Corsola can be found running from mean Mareanie just below the surface of the water near the third Crystabloom on the main path.

  • A group of 3 Corsola may be found resting on a rocky platform to your left just before the end of the level.

  • May be found on the main path near the end of the level.
New Pokemon Snap PyukumukuPyukumuku
  • May be found on a rocky platform just before entering the alternate route.

  • May also be found hitching a ride in the bills of the Pelippers floating around on the alternate route.
Minimum Research Level 2
New Pokemon Snap SquirtleSquirtle
  • Can be found near the start of the course, a large group of them can be found napping on one of the islands to your left.

  • A few more Squirtle can be found on top of some of the smaller rocky formations, and one can be found being chased by a Sharpedo. This Squirtle will jump onto a rock for safety on Research Level 2, or will be rescued by a Lapras on Research Level 3

  • Can be found to your right near the start of the course.

  • A second Lapras will appear on your left to rescue a Squirtle being chased by a Sharpedo.
New Pokemon Snap WailmerWailmer
  • Halfway through the level, a Sharpedo and a Machamp will have a swimming race. When they are done, a Wailmer may surface from behind you. Throwing an orb at it will make it spray water, which is also part of the Adorable Water Spray request.

Branch route changes depending on the camera direction

Once you have Research Level 2, you can change the route in the area near the Wailord. Point your camera to the right to head towards in front of Wailord while pointing to the left leads you behind it near the area with a group of Pelippers.

Near the end of the course, you can scan the area to find a branching route near the rocks.

Research Lv. 2 or higher 		Throw a Fluffruit in the water near a Pelipper and snap a photo of it swooping down to eat it.

Research Lv. 2 or higher 		Take the branching route that leads near Wailord's head and throw an Illumina Orb at the second Wailord to feed it a Fluffruit.

Crystabloom 1		 Can be found atop a rock to your right, shortly after the course starts. Illuminating this Crystabloom will cause a Pikachu to appear while riding on the back of a Mantine.

Crystabloom 2		 Can be found on a rocky platform to your left near the whirlpool.
Reef (Day) - Crystabloom 3.png
Crystabloom 3		 Can be found next to some Mareanie on top of a rocky platform near the end of the level.

Crystabloom 4		 Although a bit hidden, this Crystabloom can be found just slightly below the surface of the water, next to some reefs to your right when taking the alternate path.

I am pretty sure pikachu riding mantine only appears after you clear the game.

It’s in the nest on level 3. Toss an orb up there and it will come out.
