How to Raise Your Research Level

  • To your left as soon as the level starts.
  • A Rockruff may also be spotted with a Lycanroc near the Mandibuzz nest in the distance to your right.
New Pokemon Snap TepigTepig
  • To your right as soon as the level starts.
  • On the main path, you'll find this Tepig to your left in the section past the geysers.
  • As you move ahead on the main path, you should spot Tepig, Shinx, and Torchic running across the tops of the stone paths.
  • In the crater area past the poisonous area, Kangaskhan, Tepig, and Shinx can be found playing near each other.
  • When on the alternate path, a Tepig can be guided to reach the end of the course as part of the A Brave Leap Lentalk Request
New Pokemon Snap DiglettDiglett
  • Diglett can be found throughout the level. They will typically be burrowed but can be revealed with the scan and Illumina Orb. One can be found to your left right at the start of the course.
  • Another may be found in the clearing to your right just by the first Crystabloom.
  • On the main path, you'll find this Diglett buried underground to your right in the section past the geysers.
  • On the alternate path, you can uncover a hidden Diglett hiding beneath the three Torchic on your left. Scan to identify where the Diglett is, and use Fluffruit to lure the Torchic to where the Diglett is. Throw an Illumina Orb at the Torchic and Diglett will pop up to surprise these Torchic.
  • In the holes in the valley near the end of the course.
New Pokemon Snap HippowdonHippowdon
  • Look to your left at the start of the course, a Hippowdon can be spotted in an upper ledge in the distance.
New Pokemon Snap ScolipedeScolipede
  • Look to your left at the start of the course, a sleeping Scolipede can be spotted in an upper ledge in the distance. You may throw an Illumiina Orb at this Scolipede and it will reappear later in the level.
  • When taking the alternate path, you should spot Scolipede chasing the Silicobra near the second Crystabloom. If you light up the Crystabloom as the Silicobra are near, the Silicobra will slither faster. Throw a Fluffruit at the Scolipede to stop the Scolipede from chasing the Silicobra.
  • As you approach the valley on the alternate path, you'll find two Scolipede fighting each other.
New Pokemon Snap SilicobraSilicobra
  • Look to your left at the start of the course, two Silicobra can be spotted in an upper ledge in the distance bothering the sleeping Scolipede.
  • On the main path, you'll find this Silicobra buried underground to your left in the section past the geysers.
  • When taking the alternate path, you should spot Scolipede chasing the Silicobra near the second Crystabloom. If you light up the Crystabloom as the Silicobra are near, the Silicobra will slither faster. Throw a Fluffruit at the Scolipede to stop the Scolipede from chasing the Silicobra. This will allow the Silicobra to appear later in the level.
  • If you distracted the Scolipede from chasing the Silicobra earlier in the level, Silicobra can be found resting in the holes of the valley near the end of the course.
New Pokemon Snap MandibuzzMandibuzz
  • May be found perched atop several structures to your right as you approach the first Crystabloom. Scaring them off with Illumina Orbs / Fluffruits allow them to reappear throughout the course.
  • More Mandibuzz can be found flying overhead in the section between the geysers and the poisonous area. Make sure to take different photos of them from both the main path, and the alternate path.
  • As you enter the valley at the end of the level, a Mandibuzz should be in your path.
New Pokemon Snap KangaskhanKangaskhan
  • Can be found in the clearing to your right, by the first Crystabloom.
  • In the crater area past the poisonous area, Kangaskhan, Tepig, and Shinx can be found playing near each other.
New Pokemon Snap ZeraoraZeraora
  • Can be found resting on an upper ledge to your right, by the first Crystabloom. You may throw a Fluffruit at it to wake it up, and it will reappear later on in the level.
  • If woken up earlier in the level, Zeraora may reappear just before the course ends as he stays by the valley with holes in the wall.
New Pokemon Snap CrustleCrustle
  • A pair of Crustle can be found by the geysers near the start of the level.
  • When taking the alternate path, a Crustle may be found by the second Crystabloom.
New Pokemon Snap SalazzleSalazzle
  • If you scare away the Mandibuzz perched on top of a rock near the first Crystabloom, you'll find a Salazzle hiding just behind her. You can use a Melody or a Fluffruit to lure this Salazzle out,
  • If you woke up Zeraora earlier in the course, Salazzle will chase after Zeraora after you scare away the Mandibuzz. This will let Salazzle reappear later in the poisonous section of the Badlands.
  • Salazzle may also be naturally found to your left in the poisonous section of the Badlands high above where the Crystabloom in that area is.
New Pokemon Snap TorchicTorchic
  • Can be found in the clearing to your right just past the first Crystabloom.
  • As you move ahead on the main path, you should spot Tepig, Shinx, and Torchic running across the tops of the stone paths.
  • When taking the alternate path, you should find three Torchic on a ledge to your left soon after the geyser lifts you up.
  • On the main path, you should spot Torchic and Shinx playing in the clearing to your right just before you enter the valley.
  • As you enter the valley, Torchic can be found hiding in a hole to your left.
New Pokemon Snap MiniorMinior
  • Just past the first Crystabloom, Minior can be found partially buried in the sand to your right. You can use the Scan function to identify where they are.
  • Another partially buried Minior can be found near the crater area past the poisonous area.
New Pokemon Snap Lycanroc (Midnight Form)Lycanroc (Midnight Form)
  • On lower research levels, Lycanroc can be found walking slowly atop the stone paths.
  • On Research Level 3, a napping Lycanroc can be found in the shade behind you just before you enter the poisonous area of the Badlands.
  • A Lycanroc may also be spotted with a Rockruff near the Mandibuzz nest in the distance to your right.
  • In the valley right before the course ends.

  • May be found in the poisonous area of the Badlands.

  • As you move ahead on the main path, you should spot Tepig, Shinx, and Torchic running across the tops of the stone paths.
  • In the crater area past the poisonous area, Kangaskhan, Tepig, and Shinx can be found playing near each other.
  • On the main path, you should spot Torchic and Shinx playing in the clearing to your right just before you enter the valley.

Alternate Route 1 - Riding the Geyser

Research Level Lv. 2

At the beginning of the course, look for the Crystabloom east of the large boulder. Throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystabloom before passing through the first pool of water.

If done correctly, the large boulder will land on the pool of water. Run a scan while approaching the boulder to access the alternate route.

Crystabloom Where to Find
Crystabloom 1 At the beginning of the course, find the Crystabloom on the right of the large boulder.
Crystabloom 2 After passing through the pools of water, look to your right to find the Crystabloom on one of the canyons. Alternatively, you can pass through the alternate route and look down to the right to find this Crystabloom below.
Crystabloom 3 At the toxic swamp area, look to your left to find the Crystabloom.

If you scare the two Mandibuzz on the right by the first Crystabloom and head down the normal bottom path. When you’re heading down towards the Poison under the stone arch look in front of you because the Mandibuzz swoops in quick!
