How to Raise Your Research Level

Pokemon Locations

Pokemon	Where to Find
Clamperl	The first Clamperl can be found being carried away by a Drifblim near the two Wailords. A group can be found in the main path. On the alternate route, you can find another group on the rocks to your right.
Wailord	Two Wailords can be found in the middle of the course.
Wingull	You can find a group of Wingulls flying near the first Crystabloom at the start of the course. A single one can also be found flying near the whirlpool area.
Vivillon	The first Ocean Pattern Vivillon can be found by illuminating the second Crystabloom near the whirlpool. Many Vivillons appear on the left of the Wailord area.
Vaporeon	You can find Vaporeon swimming at the start of the course. If you throw an Illumina Orb at it, the Pokemon will surface on one of the rocks and you can feed it with a Fluffruit. If you lit up the first two Crystablooms near the starting point and played the Melody on the blue hole, a Vaporeon will jump out and follow you until it sinks down. The Vaporeon will then surface on the area with the Clamperls and a Mareanie near the exit point. If you took the alternate route, you need to throw an Illumina Orb at the Crystabloom in between the two rocks for Vaporeon to surface in the area.
Squirtle	You can find two Squirtles on one of the rocks near the starting point. Another pair can only be found near the alternate route if Blastoise emerges from the whirlpool. A third Squirtle appears in the alternate route only after hitting it into the whirlpool.
Primarina	Primarina can be found in the middle of the course right after the two Wailords.
Mareanie	Mareanie can be found underwater in the main path, next to some Clamperls.
Mantine	You can find a pair of Mantine as you approach the two Wailords. Another Mantine appears only after throwing an Illumina Orb at a swimming Pirmarina.
Lapras	A group of Lapras can be found in the alternate route.
Inkay	A group of Inkay only appears after throwing Illumina Orbs at the first two Crystablooms. This causes the Wailord to sink down and for the Inkays and Manaphy to appear.
Drifblim	You can find a group of Drifblims near the Wailord area. A single Drifblim can be found on the main path floating near the Clamperls. Another one can also be found hovering near the alternate route.
Blastoise	A Blastoise appears only after throwing multiple Illumina Orbs at the whirlpool. You can find it again hiding in its shell near the alternate route.
Raichu	A surfing Raichu appears at the start of the course. Another Raichu can be found near the two Wailords.
Manaphy	You can find Manaphy, along with some Inkay, after throwing Illumina Orbs at the first two Crystablooms. Another can also be found in the alternate route. Throw Illumina Orbs at the two Lapras and play the Melody to have this Pokemon appear on the water.

Reef (Evening) Alternate Routes

Alternate Route 1 - Wailord Area

Branch route changes depending on the camera direction

Once you have Research Level 2, you can change the route in the area near the two Wailords. Point your camera to the right to head towards the Wailords while pointing to the left leads you to the area with a group of Drifblims.

Alternate Route 2 - Near the Rocks

Near the end of the course, you can scan the area to find a branching route near the rocks. Going to this branching route leads you to an area with a group of Lapras.

Round and Round Research Lv. 1 or higher	Throw a Fluffruit at the Squirtle standing on the rock, and a Wingull will knock it into the water. Take a picture of it while it is being sucked into the whirlpool. Round and Round Walkthrough

Reef (Evening) Crystablooms

Crystabloom	Where to Find
Crystabloom 1	You can find this Crystabloom on your right when you start the course. Activating this along with the second Crystabloom will make one of the Wailords sink down, allowing Manaphy and some Inkay to appear in its place.
Crystabloom 2	This Crystabloom can be found on the left of the whirpool. Throwing an Illumina Orb at it causes an Ocean Pattern Vivillon to appear. If this was activated along with the first Crystabloom, you can find Manaphy and some Inkay in Wailord's place.
Crystabloom 3	On the alternate route, look behind to find this Crystabloom in between the two islands.
Crystabloom 4	On the main path, look to your left to find this Crystabloom next to two Clamperls.
