This is a guide to finding all Ancient Ruins in New Pokemon Snap (Pokemon Snap 2) for the Nintendo Switch. Learn what ancient ruins are, their locations, as well as what reward you will get after registering all of the ancient ruins!
List of Contents
Ancient Ruins are objects of interest found along courses. These ruins play no key role in the game though their descriptions give hints about the area during the ancient times.
You can locate and analyze ancient ruins by using your camera's Scan. Taking a picture of an ancient ruin will register it to your Photodex and finding all 12 ancient ruins in the game will reward you with the Historian Research Title and the Miniature Filter.

You need to unlock a hidden path in Snowfields (Day) first then look for another hidden path in Snowfields (Night) to reach these ancient ruins. Follow the steps below on how to find the two hidden branching routes.
1 | Start Snowfields (Day) at Reseach Level 2. From the starting point, look to your left to find a Sandslash and take a photo of it. |
---|---|
2 | Follow the Sandslash's trail and take a photo of it on a hill just above the Beartic and Cubchoo. |
3 | Look to your right and wait for Sandslash to reappear again. After it digs through the snow, run a scan to head through the snow and reveal the first Branching Route. |
4 | After unlocking this Branching Route, start Snowfields (Night) and set the Research Level to 2. Follow the same route leading through a snow. |
5 | Throw an Illumina Orb at the Crabominable and wait for it to wake up the Abomasnow. |
6 | After the Abomasnow wakes up, look above and take a photo of Froslass as soon as it appears. |
7 | Run a scan and take the second Branching Route to head through the snow. |
After taking the second hidden path, continue through the icy cave and just before the exit, look to your right and find these ancient ruins.
