Each type of terrain in Donkey Kong Bananza has its own properties and durability affecting how their chunks interact with the world. Learn more about terrain properties, interactions of each terrain type, and how to check a terrain's property!

Terrains with Extra Soft property easily gets destroyed upon contact. In particular, floating water bubbles will pop if you get close to it.

Terrains such as dirt, mushroom, and thorns have Soft terrain type. These can be easily destroyed with a few punches and can stick to Sturdy and Extra Sturdy terrain.

Sturdy terrains such as stone and wood can be used to break Soft and Sturdy terrains.

Extra Sturdy terrains such as concrete can be used to destroy Soft and Sturdy terrain types. You need an explosive type of terrain such as Boom Rock to destroy it as this type cannot be destroyed using punches.

Some terrain do not show a type when aiming at it. These cannot be destroyed, get a chunk of it, and climbed on.

There are different types of terrain that you can interact with depending on their terrain property. Some affect how chunks behave when you use it to Swing, Thrown, Chunk Jump, and Turf Surf.

For example, terrain types that have Soft property can be used to stick to Sturdy and Extra Sturdy terrain types to terraform the area. Use this to create bridges and platforms to make platforming easier.

Each layer has a Terrain Strength that you can check on the map screen. More stars mean that the terrain takes a longer time for DK to destroy.

Use Skill Points that you obtain from Banandium Gems to upgrade DK's Punch Power. This skill reduces the number of punches you need to destroy the terrain.
