Despite not being open world, Donkey Kong Bananza gives players a lot of freedom in the game. Find out the ways you can explore areas and how open the world of Donkey Kong Bananza is.
List of Contents

Donkey Kong Bananza is not open world game. It has a linear progression where you have to progress downward layer by layer, completing objectives along the way.
However, Donkey Kong Bananza is a sandbox game. Each layer in Donkey Kong Bananza is fairly large, and most of the environment can be freely destroyed or interacted with.

Once you have visited a layer, you can return at any time using Eelevators. You can also Teeleport to any checkpoint within the current layer as long as you've activated them.
You can make use of these to help you find the numerous collectibles available in the game such as Banandium Gems, Fossils, and more!
How to Teeleport: Fast Travel Guide

You can play Donkey Kong Bananza with another person, with one player controlling Donkey Kong and the other controlling Pauline. Donkey Kong can be played normally in this mode, but Pauline will now be able to attack using her voice.
Does Donkey Kong Bananza Have Co-Op?

A game mode where you can freely sculpt and paint figures is also available. Although you can make your own sculptures in the normal game mode using Donkey Kong's destructive abilities, the DK Artist mode makes this a lot easier and more forgiving.
