How to Scan amiibo
Use the Pause Menu

To scan an amiibo, open the Pause Menu and select the amiibo option. Then, tap the amiibo figure onto the compatible area of your controller.

Scanning Donkey Kong Series amiibo Spawns Explosive Gold Tiles
By scanning Donkey Kong series amiibo, Explosive gold tiles that spell out KONG will spawn. These can be especially helpful as you smash through the world around you.
Scanning Other amiibo Spawns Spheres of Terrain
All other amiibo figures released to date are also compatible. Scanning them spawns giant spheres made of various types of terrain.
These can be picked up, thrown, or spun; handy for reaching platforms, solving puzzles, or just tossing stuff at enemies for fun.

Unlock Pauline's Diva Dress with the Donkey Kong & Pauline amiibo
Scanning the new Donkey Kong & Pauline amiibo figure unlocks Pauline's Diva Dress outfit immediately rather than getting it through completing all of the 5 Elders' Rehearsal Halls.
The outfit resembles the one that the adult Pauline wears as mayor of New Donk City in Super Mario Odyssey.
Equipping this outfit has the bonus effect of causing Music Discs to appear twice as likely after defeating enemies.
Get the Outfit from the Collectone in Resort Layer
You can unlock the Diva Dress outfit by speaking with the Collectone in Resort Layer. This same NPC is also found in Racing Layer.
Speak to the Collectone, choose the "Here's an amiibo!" dialogue option, and tap the Donkey Kong & Pauline amiibo on the NFC touchpoint.
If done correctly, the Collectone will give you the Diva Dress.
