Donkey Kong Bananza is only available on the Nintendo Switch 2. It will not be coming to other systems, including the Switch 1.

The game was released on July 17, 2025.

Playable on Switch 1 via GameShare

DKB GameShare to Switch 1

While the game itself cannot be purchased or launched on the Nintendo Switch 1, players with a copy on a Nintendo Switch 2 can use GameShare to let nearby systems join in.

This allows local co-op play even if others don’t own the game. This includes even those who are still using the Nintendo Switch 1.

GameShare Limitations

It should be noted that the Nintendo Switch 2 system must start the GameShare session.

Users who receive software through GameShare can only play it during the active GameChat session. Once the chat ends, the shared game will no longer be playable.
