Heading right at the Divide leads you to the Forest Layer. By going this way first, you’ll unlock the Ostrich Bananza Form earlier, a versatile movement ability that helps with platforming and grabbing hard-to-reach collectibles.
While it doesn’t make the Forest Layer any less dangerous, it gives you an edge for the challenges ahead!

Your decision at the Divide doesn’t lock you out of any content as you’ll be asked to explore both the Forest and Freezer Layer as you progress. The main difference is which Layer you tackle first and what Bananza Form you unlock early.
There is a way to skip the layer you don't go through once you've completed one of them. You can still go to the skipped layer at any point in the game, but the story may not play out as originally intended.

The Freezer Path serves as a gentler introduction to the Divide, featuring simpler enemies and more straightforward platforming. You’ll earn the Zebra Form here, which helps with icy terrain and movement in slippery areas.
It’s a solid warm-up path and lets you ease into the tougher challenges ahead.

The Forest Path throws you into trickier platforming and stronger enemies right away. In return, you’ll unlock the Ostrich Form, which significantly boosts your mobility and makes backtracking for collectibles much easier.
While it’s the harder route, it sets you up better for the rest of the game.
