Can You Go Underwater

You can’t go underwater in Donkey Kong Bananza, but you can perform a Dive Punch to collect Banandium Gems hidden below the surface. Find out if you can go underwater, and know how to get Banandium Gems hidden underwater.

You Cannot Go Underwater

Swim

There’s no swimming mechanic in Donkey Kong Bananza, so you won’t be diving or exploring underwater areas freely. DK stays above, either running on water via the Zebra Bananza or just swimming at the surface at all times.

You can also unlock the Surf Surf upgrade in the Skill Tree, which lets you Turf Surf across water at high speed. It’s faster than regular swimming and doesn’t consume Bananergy like the Zebra Bananza does.

Perform a Dive Punch

Dive Punch

Even though you can’t swim, you can still collect items underwater by using a Dive Punch. Stand on a ledge or platform above the water and perform a Dive Punch to slam down.

This lets DK break through the water’s surface and grab any Banandium Gems below.
