Turf Surfing in Donkey Kong Bananza lets you ride on chunks of debris. Read on to learn how to Turf Surf!

How to Turf Surf

Press ZL While Holding a Chunk

You can Turf Surf while holding a chunk of debris. This lets you ride the chunk, moving faster than walking and knocking away smaller enemies in your path.

Since the chunk will whittle down over time, remember this is a temporary mobility boost.

To start, press and hold ZR to tear off a chunk from the ground. With a chunk in hand, press ZL to hop on and begin Turf Surfing. While surfing, press ZL to stop and Y to speed up.

Better Turf Surfing Better Turf Surfing While Turf Surfing with ZL, the chunks of terrain you ride on will dissolve at a slower rate. 3
Surf Surf Surf Surf Enhance your Turf Surfing skills so you can skim over bodies of water by pressing ZL while holding a chunk. 4

There are two skills in DK's Skill Menu that improve your ability to Turf Surf.

The first one is literally called Better Turf Surfing that lets you ride chunks for longer, while Surf Surf lets you skim over water.

Unlock Surf Surf Skill

Skill Description Skill Points Required
Surf Surf Surf Surf Enhance your Turf Surfing skills so you can skim over bodies of water by pressing ZL while holding a chunk. 4

To perform a Turf Surf on water, you need 4 Skill Points to unlock the Surf Surf skill. Collect Banandium Gems to get enough Skill Points to unlock it.

Press ZL While Holding a Chunk Near the Water

Tear off a chunk and press the ZL Button to Turf Surf near the water. This allows you to surf and move quickly around bodies of water.
