Each layer contains various collectibles such as Banandium Gems and fossils, which can be found as you explore each area. Terrain strength also varies with each layer, often getting stronger the lower you go.

There are 17 main layers and a total of 44 sublayers in Donkey Kong Bananza, with the Planet Core found at Sublayer 1600. Some layers are divided into multiple sublevels, so expect to go through more than 17 layers in total in this game.

Emerald Rush is a roguelite mode that was added in the DK Island and Emerald Rush DLC. In this mode, you will work with Void Kong to get as many emerald as possible.
You'll be able to play this mode on 10 layers as you raise your Rating Points across your runs.

In order to drop down to lower sublevels, you'll need to find and destroy Void Stakes found in the level. These are the large purple structures modeled after Void Kong and are often guarded by the layer's Main Boss.
Levels may have multiple Void Stakes, which means there may be multiple entrances to lower sublevels. It's a good idea to find and destroy all of these Void Stakes, since they reward you with Banandium Gems when destroyed.
