You can respec and reassign skill points by speaking with the Giant Elders in Donkey Kong Bananza. Learn how to reset skill points, what happens to additional items upon respec, and find out if there is a cost when resetting skills!

Talk to A Giant Elder After Learning Bananza Powers

Respec Done

Once you unlock the Bananza Transformations, you’ll also gain access to the Skill Tree, where you can spend Skill Points to upgrade transformations, healing, survivability, and more.

If you ever want to reset your build, speak to a Giant Elder and select the Reset Skills option. After confirming, all previously spent Skill Points will be refunded, allowing you to redistribute them however you like.

Ostrich Elder Forest Layer
Elephant Elder Tempest Layer
Snake Elder Radiance Layer

Not every layer has a Giant Elder, but when you do come across one, they’ll offer the option to respec and reassign your Skill Points.

All Elders offer the same reset functionality regardless of which one you visit.

What Happens To Extra Items After Resetting Skill Points?

Extra Items Become Gold

Extra Item Conversion

Some skills allow you to carry extra consumables, like getting a second Apple Juice. When you respec, those upgrades are removed, and you’ll revert back to the base limits.

If you were holding more items than your downgraded limit allows, the extras will automatically be converted into Gold. For example, if you had 2 Apple Juices but the reset brings you back down to only carrying one, the extra will turn into Gold.

Resetting your Skill Points is completely free. No Gold, Chips, or items are required.

You can respec as often as you like, which makes it easy to switch builds depending on the boss you're facing or the part of the story you're in.
