As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Vigarde will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.

+Def / -Spd

The best IVs for Vigarde are +Def and -Spd. Vigarde's Protection Pike+ along with his Def/Res Ideal 3 skill helps him maximize his Def, making it an ideal boon for him.

As an armored unit, Vigarde is an ideal enemy phase unit. Spd as his bane wouldn't affect him that much, so taking it as such wouldn't hurt his viability.

+Def for a +10 merge

We recommend +Def when merging Vigarde up to +10 for similar reasons above. His Def is his most important stat and should be maximized as much as possible.

Vigarde is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Vigarde comes with Protection Pike+ as his weapon which can grant him Atk/Def+5 during combat. It also has built-in Guard effect to stop your opponents from charging up their Special.

Vigarde suffers from not having any unique skills to call his own, making him unable to stand out amongst other units.

Lance Armor units are quite abundant in the game, and lacking an exclusive weapon makes Vigarde replaceable by better units.

Vigarde takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Slaying Hammer+, Randgríðr, or Thani, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Vigarde is the second grail unit to have Def/Res Ideal 3, making him a much more accessible source material for that skill. You will be getting three copies of him once you clear all the stages of his Grand Hero Battle. Wary fighter 3 is widely availble, so we recommend skipping that for other skills.

Obtain through a Grand Hero Battle

Vigarde is a Hero who, for a limited time, can be obtained through completing a Grand Hero Battle for the first time. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
