What Kind of Character Are They? | ・A free-to-play unit with an exclusive weapon and a good stat spread. ・Nova has a built-in 【Canto (Ally 5)】, brave effect and warping, inflicts Atk/Res-7 and 【Sabotage】 onto multiple foes, and grants bonus Atk/Res to Griss during combat. |
Might: 9 Range: 2 Enables 【Canto (Ally 5)】. Grants Atk+3. If unit initiates combat, unit attacks twice. For each foe within 5 spaces of unit, unit can move to any of the nearest spaces that are two spaces away from that foe (unless space is impassable terrain). At start of turn, inflicts Atk/Res-7 and 【Sabotage】 on closest foes and any foes within 2 spaces of those foes through their next actions. If either unit or foe has an active 【Bonus】 or 【Penalty】 effect, grants bonus to unit's Atk/Res during combat = 20% of unit's Res at start of combat + 6. |
Cooldown Count = 4 Boosts damage dealt by 80% of unit’s Res. |
Grants Atk/Res +4 during combat if unit initiates combat. |
Inflicts Atk/Res-3 on foe and neutralizes effects that grant "Special cooldown charge +X" to foe or inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit during combat. |

◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
As a hero obtainable only through Grand Hero Battle, Griss will always have neutral IVs by default. The only way to access IVs for this unit is through using Trait Fruits.
The best IVs for Griss are +Atk and -Spd. Nova's brave effect allows Griss to attack twice, thus the Atk boon is very useful as the bonus Atk is applied twice through Griss's attacks.
Griss's Spd and Def are both unimportant stats that can safely take the bane. We recommend Spd as Griss's Spd is low enough where the penalty given to it by the bane will not matter against most units.
We recommend +Atk when merging Griss up to +10 to allow him to deal the most damage possible. +Res can be used when opting for a support build instead.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Griss is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Griss's exclusive Nova has built-in 【Canto (Ally 5)】, a Brave effect upon initiating combat, and a modified warping ability similar to Emblem Celica Ring which allows Griss to warp to spaces near foes up to 5 spaces away where he is in range to attack them. Both 【Canto (Ally 5)】 and the Celica Ring warping effect work well together by allowing Griss to warp in, nuke someone down, and then warp back to his allies.
At the start of each turn, Nova inflicts Atk/Res-7 and 【Sabotage】 onto the closest foes to Griss and all foes within 2 spaces of the target foes. This effect has global range, crippling the closest foes immediately and without a chance for the enemy team to avoid getting affected by these negative statuses.
In combat, if either Griss or his foe has an active 【Bonus】 or 【Penalty】 effect, Nova grants bonus to Griss's Atk/Res during combat equal to 4 + 20% of Griss's Res. In conjunction with the earlier 【Sabotage】 effect, this condition is easily met, and can be virtually guaranteed by changing Griss's equipped skills to improve his capabilities.
Nova is a powerful weapon, but it lacks true damage unlike other modern day exclusive weapons.
Nova relies on having foes be crippled with status effects to increase Griss's attacking power. Despite having a Brave effect, if each attack is dealing zero to dedicated tanks, then additional attacks won't matter as each of them will deal zero.

We recommend that you use Unlock Potential to bring Griss - Indulging Pain from 4 Stars to 5 Stars. Griss - Indulging Pain is a very useful modern green tome magic tank, so we recommend you Unlock Potential for Griss - Indulging Pain if your team lacks a strong modern green tome magic tank.
