What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Eagle's Heart has built-in Canto, grants another action and Canto after first combat, inflicts Atk/Def penalties onto foe and grants Edelgard bonus true damage, damage reduction, a Preempt Pulse effect, and post-combat healing. ・Pure Storm inflicts Atk/Def penalties, Exposure, and Sabotage onto foes at the start of turn and after each action, disables foe's Specials on combats except first, grants bonus true damage and piercing, and grants an extra action after combat. |
Might: 16 Range: 1 Enables 【Canto (Rem. +1; Min 2)】. Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). After Canto, if unit entered combat on the current turn, grants another action to unit, and re-enables Canto (once per turn; does not trigger when affected by effects of traps in Aether Raids during Canto). If unit initiates combat or the number of allies adjacent to unit ≤ 1, inflicts penalty on foe's Atk/Def = 20% of unit's Def at start of combat + 6, unit deals +X × 5 damage (X = number of Bonus effects active on unit, excluding stat bonuses + number of Penalty effects active on foe, excluding stat penalties; max 5; excluding area-of-effect Specials), and reduces damage from foe's attacks by X × 3 during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and also, reduces damage by an additional X × 3 when foe's attack triggers foe's Special (excluding area-of-effect Specials), grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before unit's first attack during combat, and restores 7 HP to unit after combat. |
Cooldown Count = 3 Boosts Special damage by 40% of unit's Def when Special triggers. If foe's Range = 1 and unit or foe's Special is ready or triggered before or during this combat, reduces damage from foe's next attack by 40% (once per combat; excluding area-of-effect Specials). |
If unit initiates combat, grants Atk+8 and Def+10 to unit and unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack during combat, and also, if number of 【Bonus】 effects active on unit ≥ 2, excluding stat bonuses, or if number of 【Penalty】 effects active on foe ≥ 2, excluding stat penalties, unit deals +5 damage during combat (including when dealing damage with an area-of-effect Special; excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials). |
At start of turn and after unit acts (if Canto triggers, after Canto), inflicts Atk/Def-7, 【Exposure】, and 【Sabotage】 on closest foes and foes within 2 spaces of those foes through their next actions. If target has entered combat aside from this combat on the current turn and unit initiates combat, target cannot trigger their Special during combat. If unit initiates combat or the number of allies adjacent to unit ≤ 1, inflicts Atk/Def-5 on foe, deals damage = 20% of unit's Def (excluding area-of-effect Specials), and reduces the percentage of foe's non-Special "reduces damage by X%" skills by 50% during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials). If unit initiates combat and number of allies adjacent to unit ≤ 1 after combat, grants another action to unit (once per turn; if a skill effect moves unit after combat, this effect occurs based on unit's final placement after that movement). |
At start of turn, if unit's HP = 100% or any foe is within 3 columns or 3 rows centered on unit, grants Atk+6, "unit can move 1 extra space (that turn only, does not stack)," and 【Charge】 to unit for 1 turn. If unit initiates combat, grants Atk+5 to unit and grants Special cooldown count-1 to unit before unit's first attack during combat. |

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Valentine's Edelgard are +Atk and -Spd. As an offensive unit with multiple actions, Edelgard appreciates the Atk boost to help sweep entire enemy teams by defeating multiple foes in one turn.
Valentine's Edelgard's Spd is a clear dump stat and should be taken as a bane as it won't affect any of her matchups.
We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Valentine's Edelgard up to +10 to maximize her damage output and allow her to easily clean up multiple foes.

Valentine's Edelgard already carries a base kit that excels in player phase with her extra actions and true damage. Emblem Celica Ring allows her to warp to enemies and sweep faster.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Valentine's Edelgard is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Valentine's Edelgard carries a very powerful offensive weapon in Eagle's Heart. This exclusive axe has built-in 【Canto (Rem. +1; Min 2)】 and grants Edelgard an extra action (once per turn) and Canto after her first combat.
In combat, Eagle's Heart inflicts an Atk/Def penalty on Edelgard's foe equal to 6 + 20% of her Def, grants Edelgard up to +25 bonus true damage based on the number of Bonus effects on Edelgard and Penalty effects on her foe, up to +15 true damage reduction based on similar conditions, and another similar true damage reduction effect when her foe triggers an offensive Special.
Eagle's Heart also grants Edelgard a Preempt Pulse effect before her first attack and 7 HP post-combat healing.
Combined with the true damage effects of Pure Storm and Sly Sturdy Blow, Valentine's Edelgard can attack for 40 true damage per hit and act up to three times in one turn with the extra actions of Eagle's Heart and Pure Storm.
Valentine's Edelgard comes with an exclusive B skill in Pure Storm. This skill inflicts Atk/Def-7, 【Exposure】, and 【Sabotage】 on closest foes to Edelgard and foes near those foes at the start of turn and after each of Edelgard's actions.
Pure Storm also inflicts Atk/Def-5 onto Edelgard's foe in combat and grants Edelgard bonus true damage equal to 20% of her Def, a 50% damage reduction piercing effect, and an extra action (once per turn) after her combat.
The most important effect of Pure Storm is that it disables foe's Special skills if the target foe has already entered combat aside from the current combat on the current turn. This means during Edelgard's second and successive combats on an enemy, that cannot trigger their Specials at all, leaving them vulnerable for Edelgard to defeat.
This effect is a huge counter to Shield Fighter armors which currently run the metagame and may cause a shift back to traditional Slick Fighter 4 or Wily Fighter 4 armors if Valentine's Edelgard becomes a staple presence in the metagame.
Valentine's Edelgard takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Randgríðr, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Valentine's Edelgard comes with Armored Blaze, Sly Sturdy Blow, and Assault Rush as inheritable options.
We recommend prioritizing Sly Sturdy Blow as it is the best inheritable skill on her kit. However, you can acquire all three skills at once by inheriting the prerequisite skills first.

The Special Fighter 3 Sacred Seal has an HP condition, while Bold Fighter 3 does not. This is relevant in certain scenarios, the most common being fighting Níðhöggrs. However, using a Special acceleration Sacred Seal is niche and is only relevant when facing enemies with both Scowl and Guard effects. We also fixed the wording on Pure Storm's analysis. Thanks for pointing it out!
