+Res / -Def
The best IVs for Valentine's Hubert are +Atk and -Def. Hubert's Atk is among the highest in the game at base 48 and should be maximized as without an exclusive weapon to provide modern effects like damage reduction piercing, Hubert will need the additional firepower to even put a dent into bulky units.
Hubert's Def is lackluster at only base 23 and reducing it won't impact his matchup against foes that deal physical damage.
+Atk for a +10 merge
We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Valentine's Hubert up to +10 to give him as much offensive help as possible due to his lack of an exclusive weapon or skill.

Valentine's Hubert is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Valentine's Hubert Strengths
Free-to-play unit with high Atk and above average Res
Valentine's Hubert is a free-to-play unit available for all players without spending orbs. His statline is skewed towards Atk, which can both be good or bad depending on the amount of investment his foes have equipped.
Hubert can be a good budget option, but against competitive metagame heroes, he will lack the stats and effects necessary to compete.
Devoted Cup+ grants up to +25 bonus true damage
Valentine's Hubert comes with Devoted Cup+, an inheritable Blue Tome that inflicts Spd/Res-7 and 【Discord】 on closest foes and foes within 2 spaces of those foes and grants Hubert Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5 and up to +25 bonus true damage based on the number of Bonus effects on Hubert and Penalty effects on his foe.
While Hubert lacks all the modern effects of an exclusive weapon, Devoted Cup+ still has built-in true damage. If leveraged correctly, Hubert can still put a dent into bulky metagame units and outright defeat enemies without true damage reduction effects.

Lack of Unique Skills
Valentine's Hubert suffers from not having any unique skills to call his own, making him unable to stand out amongst other units.
Armored units require significant investment to be useful, and lacking an exclusive weapon or skill makes Valentine's Hubert replaceable by better units.
Weak to Armor Effective Weapons
Valentine's Hubert takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Randgríðr, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Valentine's Hubert is a limited time Hero who can be obtained as a reward for your score in the Tempest Trials. They do not appear in regular summons. After the event has ended, they can be obtained by using Heroic Grails.
