See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Forsyth are +Atk and -Spd. This will increase the amount of damage he deals per attack. Since he can score follow-up attacks through Bold Fighter, Spd is not so much of importance to him.
Another reason to take +Atk is that it is a superboon—it grants Forsyth +4 Atk instead of the regular +3.
We recommend a +Res IV when merging Forsyth to 10. At +10 Merges, Forsyth's Atk will reach such high levels that pushing it up higher is a waste, considering he has access to Bold Fighter 3. At this point, it would be better to opt with a +Res IV instead. At +10 merges, he will reach a Res stat of 43 including the +3 Res from Sol Lance. This puts his Def and Res over 40 which makes him an effective tank against a wide range of units.
You can also go for a +Res IV at earlier merge levels. This will lead to a more defensive version of Forsyth. Keep in mind that with the release of Trait Fruits, you can freely change Forsyth's IVs without pulling for him.

This is a budget build for Forsyth with minimal Skill Inheritance. His kit is already very workable, and he gets a guaranteed follow-up attack with Quick Riposte 3.
Exclusive Weapon Effect from Refining (Special Effect Type) | |

SP: 400 | |
Might: 16 Range: 1 HP: 3 Grants Res+3. When unit deals damage to foe during combat, restores 14 HP to unit (triggers even if 0 damage is dealt). At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, inflicts Atk/Def-5 on foe and reduces the effect of 【Deep Wounds】 by 50% during combat. If unit is within 3 spaces of an ally, inflicts Atk/Def-5 on foe during combat, foe cannot make a follow-up attack, and also, if unit's HP ≥ 50% at start of combat, reduces damage from foe's first attack by 30%. :500 :200 |
|
Forsyth doubles down on being a self-sufficient tank by nullifying half of Fatal Smoke's effects while healing 14 HP to himself per attack.
This refine turns the passionate knight into a premier Near Save Tank.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Forsyth is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Sol Lance heals Forsyth for 10 HP everytime he hits an enemy. This might seem lackluster on paper, but if you take into consideration Forsyth's very high defensive stats, having him restore 10 HP potentially every phase poses a problem to Forsyth's enemies.
Forsyth has the armor-only skill Bold Fighter 3, which grants him a guaranteed follow-up attack when initiating combat, as well as special cooldown charge +1. This means that when initiating combat, Bonfire will almost always trigger, allowing him to take down most enemies.
Sol Lance and Bold Fighter 3 ensures that Forsyth and his team is heavily rewarded whenever he enters combat. Make sure that Forsyth is engaging enemies frequently as he can take quite a beating and dish-out huge amounts of damage while doing so.
Joing Hone Def grants +5 Def to allies if they are adjacent to Forsyth at the start of the turn. When triggered, the Def bonus is also granted to Forsyth himself! It has a similar trigger condition to Def/Res Bond 3, so these two skills work well with each other. Keep allies in close proximity to Forsyth to boost your whole team's defenses!
Def/Res Bond 3 increases Forsyth's Def and Res by +5 if he is adjacent to an ally. Since it is an in-combat buff, it stacks with other combat buffs, so it is good to pair with units that have skills like Def Tactic or Spur Def.
As said, this works very synergistically with Joint Hone Def.
Forsyth takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Armorslayer+ or Hammer+, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take him down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
