Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Atk/-Spd

The best IVs for Kjelle are +Atk and -Spd. This will increase the amount of damage she deals per attack. Since she can score follow-up attacks through Bold Fighter, Spd is not so much of importance to her.

Another reason to take +Atk is that it is a superboon—it grants Ilyana +4 Atk instead of the regular +3.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Kjelle to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. If you prefer a bulkier Kjelle, you can go for a +Res IV instead! This balances her defensive stats which is ideal for survivability.

How to Use, Explanation

Compared to the last 2 builds, this is the most expensive. Naturally, though, it is the best out of all the 3. Special Fighter 3 is no doubt superior than Bold Fighter 3, but it is way more expensive especially on Kjelle who has BF3 on her base kit. If you can afford Armor March 3, and you plan to run her in an all-armor team, try to get that on her C slot.

How to Use, Explanation

For a more offensive build on Kjelle, you can buy a copy of Cormag in the Grail shop, and get Slaying Lance+. This is a good Lance option for an offensive setup. For the B, C and S slots, you can keep what you have from the budget build. Since Bold Fighter 3 takes care of player phase firepower, get Distant Counter to improve her contribution in the enemy phase! Overall, this makes for a balanced build for Kjelle.

How to Use, Explanation

We don't recommend running Kjelle with a budget build because she doesn't have a good prf. weapon yet, but if you need to, just run Atk Smoke 3, Quick Riposte 3, the cheap Death Blow 3 and any assist skill of choice, then you're good!

How to Use, Explanation

Refined Heartbeat Lance turns Kjelle into a monster tank by decreasing the opponent's Atk/Def by 10 and further decreasing their Atk based on stat differences. In conjunction with Hardy Fighter, Kjelle can survive almost any ranged attack. A melee version using Near Save, Pavise, and replacing Distant Stance with something like Sturdy Stance 3 is also viable.

Kjelle's refined Heartbeat Lance turns her into an absolute tank. It inflicts Atk/Def-10 on the opponent and decreases their Atk further by a percentage based on the difference between the stats of Kjelle and her foe.

Kjelle is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Kjelle Strengths

Guaranteed follow-up makes way for consistent Draconic Aura activation

Kjelle has the armor only skill Bold Fighter, which grants her a guaranteed follow-up attack when initiating combat, as well as special cooldown charge +1. This means that when initiating combat, Draconic Aura will almost always trigger, allowing her to take down most enemies.

Def/Res Buff in Aether Raids Defense

AR-D Def/Res 3 grants Kjelle with a Def/Res buff depending on the number of defensive structures on your defense map. The highest being +10 and the lowest being +1 This strongly synergizes with her statline and with Barrier Lance+. Defend your defensive structures to preserve the strength of Kjelle in a defensive Aether Raid!

Strong Against Magic Attaks

In addition to her naturally high defensive stats, Barrier Lance+ grants +7 Res to Kjelle when she is attacked. Since Bold Fighter 3 is not available in the enemy phase, this helps her survive to wreak havoc on the next player phase to come.
