When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Nel are +Spd and -HP. Nel's Spd is among the highest in the game at base 47, raised to base 51 with a superboon. Boosting Spd allows Nel to prevent follow-up attacks from fast metagame foes while generating her own follow-up attacks against slower foes.
Nel's HP is her least important stat and can be decreased through a bane as it is the easiest stat to patch up through various blessing bonuses.
We recommend +Spd when merging Nel up to +10 to ensure she keeps up with fast metagame foes.

Nel is a close magic attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Nel's inheritable Arcane Fell Arts grants her up to Atk/Spd/Def/Res+14 (based on her foe's Atk stat), bonus true damage equal to 15% of her Atk (including area-of-effect Specials), true damage reduction equal to 15% of Nel's Atk (including from non-Røkkr area-of-effect Specials), Special cooldown charge +1 per attack, and a Preempt Pulse effect before Nel's first attack.
While it isn't as loaded as modern exclusive weapons, this Arcane dragonstone has most of the necessary modern effects that make units powerful in the metagame such as bonus stats, true damage, true damage reduction, and Special manipulation.
Nel's exclusive A skill Protective inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 and stat bonus neutralization to all foes within 3 rows or 3 columns centered on Nel, allowing her to weaken faraway foes to help her team defeat them in combat.
In combat, Protective grants Nel Atk/Spd/Def/Res+9, 50% damage reduction piercing, true damage reduction on her foe's first attack equal to 15% of her foe's Atk, and if her foe has an offensive Special equipped, inflicts Special cooldown count +1 before her foe's first attack.
Additionally, if Nel's support partner isn't at full health, or if Nel is within 2 spaces of an ally that isn't at full health, Protective grants Nel +15 true damage whenever her Special triggers during combat.
Protective improves her team's bulk both directly and indirectly through various effects, making them more difficult to defeat in combat.
Nel takes 1.5x damage from dragon-effective weapons like Divine Mist, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
