When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Atk/-Spd

The best IVs for Effie are+Atk and -Spd. This IV maximizes the damage Effie can deal. Her Spd is of less importance because of Wary Fighter disabling her and her foe's ability to score follow-up attacks on each other.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend a +Atk IV when merging Effie to 10. This is for the same reasons as above. If you prefer Effie to specialize in the enemy phase who possesses Distant Counter, you can go for a +Res IV instead.

How to Use, Explanation

This build makes Effie a heavy-hitting tank that can neutralize bonus through her refined weapon. Since she will mostly be used as an enemy phase tank, Vengeful Fighter will help her charge her Special while preventing her opponent from triggering theirs.

We recommend the Special Effect Refine for Effie's Lance

Its a straightforward effect that makes sure foes' Atk/Def are not in ridiculous levels as it neutralizes bonuses in said stats. On top of that, it inflicts -5 Atk/Def onto her foes. These debuffs allow Effie to deal more and take less damage—both quirks that are great for a unit like Effie. Take note that this only activates in the first combat of a turn. If you are not in a turn-limited, fast paced map like Aether Raids, try to fight enemies one-by-one so that you are always able to fight under the advantage that this refine provides.

Effie is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Effie Strengths

Exclusive weapon grants Atk boost

Effie's Lance has the simple effect of granting her +6 Atk provided that she is at least at 50% HP or above. Its a good boost with a very convenient trigger condition. It also has access to a special effect refine that allows Effie to deal more damage and decrease the damage the enemy deals to her!

Very high base damage

Effie has a pretty high Atk stat and Death Blow 3 helps in pushing her base damage even more! If you get a +Atk copy and inherit a Brave Lance+ onto her, then you have a simple but hard-hitting Effie build.

High Defenses and access to Wary Fighter

On top of her naturally high defenses, Effie has access to Wary Fighter 3. Wary Fighter 3 prevents Effie and her foe from executing follow-up attacks if her HP ≥ 50%. Effie benefits greatly from this, as she does not rely on follow-up attacks to deal damage anyway. Even if you inherit Brave Lance+ onto Effie, the extra attack does not count as a follow-up attack. This means that Effie will still be able to utilize the effects of Brave Lance+. Check out her builds section for the Brave Lance build.

Useful movement-assist skill in Smite

Smite is a movement assist skill that pushes a unit 2 tiles away from Effie. Additionally, it can be used to move a unit across rivers or across cliffs which adds to its utility. If you can imagine, it has very high utility and many uses. As it can be used to save allies from danger or fling them straight into combat while ignoring some tile interactions, it can win you some very niche situations such as Inferal or Abyssal maps if you plan your exact movements for said maps in advance.

Effie Weaknesses

Armored movement!

Effie enjoys the high stats of an armored unit, but this means that she suffers from armored movement as well. Without the use of proper Sacred Seals like Armored Boots and skills like Armored March 3, she will be crippled by very limited movement. It will be most likely that the enemy will get to her first before she is able to initiate. If that is the case, she will be unable to trigger both Death Blow 3 and possibly Brave Lance+ if you choose to inherit that skill onto her.

Weak to Armor Effective Weapons

Effie takes 1.5x damage from armor-effective weapons like Armorslayer+ or Hammer+, and one blow from this type of weapon is sure to take her down. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
