For the Sinners of Vanity and Gluttony, the level of the boss monster will be determined based on the Distortion Level set before the fight begins.
The lowest Distortion Level is Lv. 1, which sets the boss to Level 26. The highest the event can go is Distortion Lv. 30, which puts Dvesha over the level cap at Level 84.

The Shadow Madarame boss can be split into four different parts: the Left Eye, Right Eye, the Nose and the Mouth. Your main goal is to defeat all four parts before any one of them could be revived by the other.

The Sinners of Vanity and Gluttony are part of the second Crossroads of Fate event, where they can be fought as a special limited-time boss. These boss fights are split into 30 different levels; the higher the number, the more difficult the boss fight.
Try to beat the boss on higher difficulties to earn as many rewards as you can!

There are 30 levels of difficulty to go up against Dvesha, but it is highly suggested to go try up to Level 25. While the boss might be quite difficult at that level, you get an exclusive Icon Frame for your in-game profile upon clearing it.
Clearing Distortion Lv. 25 will also unlock Stamina Mode, where players can start to farm event-exclusive currency!

If you're fighting Dvesha through the Sinners of Vanity and Gluttony event, there are Special Effects that activate depending on the chosen Distortion Level. The higher the Distortion Level, the stronger the buffs obtained by Dvesha, and the effects will stack the higher you go.
| 1st Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 1 When Dvesha's nose is present, all of Dvesha's Mouth's affinities change from Resist to Null. |
|---|---|
| 2nd Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 3 All foes' Defense is increase by 10%. |
| 3rd Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 6 When all of Dvesha's parts are revived, its healing effect is increased. |
| 4th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 8 All foes' max HP is increased by 10%. |
| 5th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 11 Dvesha's Nose can attack even without twitching. |
| 6th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 13 All foes' Attack is increase by 10%. |
| 7th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 16 When Dvesha's Eye is defeated, the other parts will be strengthened |
| 8th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 18 All foes' damage is increased by 10%. |
| 9th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 21 Dvesha's Eye can place Watchful Eye on 2 foes at the same time. |
| 10th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 23 All foes' damage taken is decreased by 10%. |
| 11th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 26 Shorten revival cooldown time for all of Dvesha's parts. |
| 12th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 28 All foes' Defense is increase by 20%. |
| 13th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 29 All foes' max HP is increased by 20%. |
| 14th Buff | Active starting Distortion Lv. 30 All foes' Attack is increase by 20%. |

You have to defeat the Nose first to be able to deal proper damage to the Mouth. So long as the Nose is up, the mouth will keep all resistances to Null.
With the Nose down, all affinities that are Nullified will become Resistances instead. While it's down, this is your chance to attack it with your team's strongest abilities and Highlight attacks.

At the start of the boss fight, you can ignore Dvesha's Eyes as their attacks and abilities really do not hit as hard compared to the others.
However, on prolonged fights and at higher Distortion Levels, they will become as much of a problem as the Nose and Mouth and may need to be taken down quicker as well.
Both Eyes and the Mouth have resistances but can still be dealt with. However, try not to bring Fire, Ice, Wind and Electric characters to this boss fight.

To be more specific, be careful when launching an attack to Dvesha's Nose. It will absorb attacks from Fire, Ice, Wind and Electric affinities, and will heal it instead.
Depending on the Distortion Level against Dvesha, the fight can get really long. If you think the fight will get stretched out, get some items to recover your team's SP in some capacity before the boss fight. Alternatively, make use of Okyann and Puppet's Skills as Navigators to restore a bit of SP for your on-field team.
Most of Dvesha's attacks are affiliated with the Wind Element. Try not to bring anyone who is weak to Wind, otherwise you will be constantly on the backfoot to keep that teammate alive.

As of Version 1.2, there is currently no Sweeper nor Assassin character that is affiliated with Psychic, Nuclear and Bless elements. Hence, the best shot a player can run is to run Joker and Mont as a team.
Joker and Mont make up the DPS with the former's Extra Action and the latter's Blade Dancer follow-up attack. Joker can even take advantage of the Eyes absorbing Curse attacks since your first main target is the Nose.
Marian and Wonder will support the Curse characters through buffs, debuffs on the opponent, and heals.

Make sure that your team is not underleveled and under-equipped. Have your Phantom Thieves at least around the Minimum or Recommended Level for the boss fight.
Just make sure to check on the Distortion Levels before the boss fight. Players can check the level and active buffs Dvesha will have!
Leveling Guide: How to Level Up Fast

At this point in the game, players need to have a couple of Revelation Cards equipped to each of the Phantom Thieves. The added stats from the main stat, the substats after being leveled, and the passives that go active will be of great help for damage checks and tanking damage.

Before you go into the fight, you could consume some of the home cooking Wonder makes in the kitchen. The food he makes will grant the team some buffs that will last for a certain number of battles. These include boss fights like in the Palace or in Mementos!
